I race 2 R6's, a 99 and an 03, guess which ones runs consistently better
FI is better at high altitude, in extreme weather and is better for emissions standards (more accurate). The trade off is one is cheap to fix and mechanical, the other is expensive to fix and electronic. No big difference on older R6's, FI or carb.. They all perform roughly the same. You can indeed squeeze almost 10 extra hp out of an '03 stock over the 99-02 with a tune though.
It comes down to whatever your preference is.
