Update. Vietnam was amazing. Cut my ride short half way at Hoi An after seeing two separate fatal crashes. Figured it was a sign, cows and busses man... They'll kill ya.
Debating the Mae Hong Son loop now, traffic seems to move a lot faster in Thailand.
Yeah it's less about the money and more the time involved, seems it takes 10 working days for a license? Or do you get something similar to the M1 slip we get here immediately after.
Last question I swear, did World Nomads ask if you had a Viet license? It seems they only require you to have a Canadian license to be covered, but they're very murky on the matter.
Yeah the plan is to rent either semi-auto Honda Waves for the ride down to Saigon because they're cheap/easy to fix or maybe the XR150 if I can find a shop with them around Ha Giang.
Yeah gear wise, I'm thinking to bring gloves, hiking boots and pick-up an LS2 helmet there with some elbow/knee pads. Speeds should be low enough that it won't be too bad with all that?
Awesome, thanks so much. You wouldn't happen to remember the notary? Any last tips for the trip? I'm going to be riding up through Mae Hong loop, Ha Giang, and then down from Hanoi to Saigon.
World Nomads didn't give you issues for riding a bike without a Vietnamese license? I thought Canadian licenses even with IDP weren't valid in Vietnam.
