Very true. We have raised our prices substantially the last 6 years but we aren't making any more money. Wages are way up. Materials are way up. Profits are stagnant but we are still doing well. Happy to have a solid 6 months of contracts. Many shops have no work.
I'm seeing this here recently as well. One was bought for $600000 before Christmas and needed a complete overhaul. Everything needed to be done. Just sold for just under a million. The other sold in 12 days for a very strong number.
It's amazing how many Canadians don't realize that if both partners receive the max CPP and one dies, the surviving partner gets nothing of the deceased CPP other than the death benefit. IMHO thats criminal.
Not concerned with OAS clawback. I hope. Self funding the first 7 - 8 years should deal with that issue. If the markets continue the way they have the last few years, who knows.
We both retire at the end of this year. 61 1/2 years old at that time. We will self fund retirement until 68 - 69 to get our rrsp's down before Cpp and Oas start.
This will require taking more rrsp funds out than we need and continuing to max out Tfsa's for foreseeable future.
As much as we all...
Maybe I'm crazy or just not the norm but I bought my house to have a home to live in and raise a family. It's much more to me than an investment. I couldn't care less what it's worth. I gotta live somewhere.
Only downside is the price. Don't think we will see many on the road.
I got a really good deal on my K1600 when I bought new but 3 years old just out of the crate. Less then what it would cost me to buy the 12S.
Yup. Been once. Had the opportunity to go again for free (friends go often and had points) but turned it down. We like good food and good wine. I'd never go again.
Wife works in a law office. They have a list of private lenders and for a time we considered also being one. They see to many of those private loans not get paid back. Unless you can comfortably loose $150000 then its not for you. Not for us.
