If you buy a Toyota it's doubtful the motor will need work. On my third one and so far everything I've had to do was what I would call a "consumable" - brakes and exhaust sort of thing.
If anyone has ratcheting wrenches that you flip to run in reverse, be very careful because you can quite easily do a similar thing. Spinning a bolt up far enough that the wrench is trapped and can't be reversed. I've had close calls and a friend mentioned having to cut one off.
In my experience the Real Deal will call and talk to you. Then show up with cash and way to get the bike home.
Buyers know I'm serious when I show up with my trailer.
Not sure why I havn't caught this thread before. I've been thinking I too want to ride the Gaspe this summer. Hopefully shortly after the Superbike race s in August. Maybe a KLR buddy or two, possibly maybe some from here.
Now off to read the thread from the start.
Thanks. That's what I was hoping I could maybe do.
Sorry should have mentioned we're out Stratford way. London on Friday to another LBS (I hope that means Local Bike Shop). KW maybe but would never venture much further east just for bikes.
Squeeze of course has some research and found these...
Assuming things havn't changed dramatically in the last 6 or 8 years I'm pretty sure you can expect to see:
A lot of burnouts,
Some very nice bikes,
An aging but still rocking live band,
Some boobs and maybe a guy in a thong,
A guy either showing off or drunk (good chance both) drop his bike...
It's way better to ride up Friday and skip the giant couch parade (do they still do that?).
ProTip: Sleep with ear plugs. Helps drown out the guys doing burnouts late into the night as well as the guys who start their bikes early in the morning as retaliation.
So went bike shopping. Sport chek had 250-300$ mountain bikes that would probably work. A Diamond back w/ 1x8-10 was $750
The first LBS carried Giant but already was running out of stock. For 850-1000$ I'm not about "settle" for a colour I didn't like and a frame for the Squeeze that isn't...
I don't know about people who only ride bikes but I've found people who work on bikes to generally be very decent folks. Going to buy a part or having someone over to purchase something from me usually ends up taking a while as we review the others "collection" and then generally spend time...
With our short season it doesn't take long to fill up the calander and even then you often have to decide among competing events.
There's a number of events we hit each summer for example the CVMG Rally in Paris, Superbike races at Mosport, The GrandBend Festival of Speed ( you can do a track...
