Are you so self-centered Sonny, that you need everyone in the world to hold the same opinions as you? You need to accept that others just may think differently. look at the polls leading up to the election. OMG, Harper doesn't have 100% support? I guess 70% of the population is wrong.

It's both infantile and sad that some can't discuss a topic without personally attacking those they disagree with by throwing around the word liar. Frankie has posted some pretty out there opinions, without factual backup, but no one has called him a liar. Those that do are just keyboard bullies.

Sonny wants numbers. Here they are: from his his lnk to national post: Canadians cover 24 billion in welfare costs http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadians-cover-24-billion-a-year-in-poverty-costs-report money taken out of Canada by multinational corporations in 2014: 199 billion...

Oh, this is just sweet. "The report said the federal government should put money toward things such as income subsidization, affordable housing, education and better health care to help rid Canada of poverty." It's exactly what harper has not done this past decade.

Joke: A boss arrives to work work one morning in a car easily worth the annual salary of 4 employees. An employee says, "What a great car, Boss!" Boss says, "Let me tell you something. If you work hard, put in the hours and really apply yourself, next year I'll have an even nicer one."

Is it not blasingly obvious? Think about it. What corporations get away with in avoiding taxes through loopholes they have paid politicians to create and protect, versus welfare fore the poor? Do I have those figures on hand? No. But isn't it obvious?

Like I said, wrong example for the tax topic. But it does show you how the uber wealthy manipulate the system to their benefit. Sometimes they are successful, sometimes not. When successful, the cost to the system is higher than the freeloaders on welfare.

How does that change the big picture? No, he didn't laugh about paying no tax. But he pointed out that certain tax rules benefit the rich who make money with money - capital gains, which is taxed at a lower rate than salaried earnings. Not so different to rudely call someone a liar.

So what am I lying about? I did I hurt your feelings by guessing that you weren't in the top 1%? Gee, sorry about that. I'm not claiming to be an expert. I'm just also passionate, about politics and all I'm expressing is my opinion, as is everyone else...

Right. And it's these small businesses that the NDP want to support, not the huge corporations listed in my previous post, many of whom receive government subsidies as well. sonny, why the personal jabs? Let's just debate. It's you that's getting emotional. Don't put words in my mouth.

I may have been wrong on your income, (props to you) but I'm not making up the fact that large corporations avoid paying taxes by using tax shelters, which are not available to the working class. these shelters/loopholes exist because politicians writing the rules are bought by lobbyists and...

I disagree. Exxon, Shell, etc are not small businesses. Your bias makes you blind. do you think these are small businesses? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_public_companies_in_Canada_by_profit compared to the guy that owns the independent auto garage or dry cleaners.

Sonny quoted rocker guy so I can read his post: isn't everyone's argument self serving in the sense that they argue for what they believe in? Why would anyone do differently? This is is why he is ignored.

This may be a blow to your ego Sonny: you're just not rich enough. Someone once asked (name escapes me, he's a huge silver investor in the U.S.) about paying taxes, he just laughed and said, "tax is something my secretary pays." edit added: Warren Buffet

What I find interesting is how much of the working middle class blames and hates the impoverished class as being freeloaders, when the super wealthy and corporations that use loopholes and off shore banking to avoid paying their fair share of taxes and demand government subsidies, are the ones...

Agreed! As for restricted travel: another freedom being taken away by "our" government. Surely that must make the conservative libertarians here uncomfortable, at least if their view is consistent. As for education, it's the private system that kicks out students that aren't compliant, not the...
