I don't know what an rpm is but 8-10 thousand sounds like a lot by the tone of your voice. I guess everybody here must be frootloops.

Sounds like about 2 gallons for 70 ish miles? 120kms in 9km segments. Sounds like a worst case scenerio on a mostly cold engine. Take some long runs. I bet the mileage improves. In magazine test rides the highest and lowest mileage seems to vary greatly per bike.

Clear powder coat sounds the best. Powder coating can be quite cheap if your small parts are thrown in with someone elses big order. Some coaters will accomodate that, others want to maximize profit. Costs next to nothing if doing industrial black.

In over 45 yrs. riding and going down on pavement a handful of times I've never suffered any real road rash to speak of. Never been down at high speed tho. The armoured textile I now wear is the most protected I've ever been. I feel it's sufficient. That's just one angle, take it fwiw.
