I rode in freezing temps, i just layer up and also have $20 insulated sheep leather gloves from the motorcycle show. But then again, just ride to what you feel is most comfortable and safe for yourself.

if its damn too hot out, i vest/squid it for short distances, but if any highway riding is involved, i use my jacket. as for the tank bag, might i suggest the icon urban tank bag (it converts to a backpack!)
