Is Tuition Really THAT Unreasonable in Ontario?

My tuition was $11,000 per year in my first year, and rose to $13,500 by my fourth year. It's now well over $14K for the students still in the program. Add to this the cost of textbooks; they weren't cheap textbooks. On top of this, add in the cost of living in the most expensive city in...

Like watches? post a pic of your watch, and a pic of your favourite watch

I've got this: It was a step up from my old timex. The face is actually dark blue, not black. My main problem with watches is that companies are making them too god damned big. I have rather skinny arms, and most watches looking ****ing ridiculous on my wrists. This one's nice and small...

What's your favourite part about riding?

I recently broke up with a girlfriend of four years. The morning after the break-up, I got on the bike. I had to. It took a few minutes to get out of the city traffic. But as soon as I hit the open road and went over 60 km/h, and felt the acceleration in my back and the wind rushing around me...

    First Date Ideas ?

Gentlemen, as to the movie idea, I must dissent. Took a girl out to the TIFF Bell Lightbox the other week. I'm a member there (student member = $40) and there's a neat restaurant on the third floor that non-members can't get into. Nothing quite says "pimp" like taking her to a place with a view...

The REAL cost of owning a motorcycle…

Me: Bike: $1500 Course: $500 Gear: $1000 Insurance: $2200 (yaaay being 22) Gas: at least $20 per day of riding (but when I do ride, it's a few hundred km per day) I could have saved money by buying cheaper / used gear. I have nice Kevlar-reinforced Draggin' Jeans, a Shoei Qwest helmet...

    flapping jeans

I don't have this problem. I wear boots with a good rise (about 8"), and my riding jeans are longer than I'd normally wear so that they still reach my ankles when I'm sitting on the bike.

Money = Success? Moved from Pannon Thread

This thread reads like a bunch of 16 year old bragging about how much money their dads make. I, for one, fall in the camp that money doesn't equal happiness. There's more to life than money. Of course, I'm not poor, and make a pretty good salary (well, I make less than 100K, which as it turns...

To hump or not to hump, that is the question

The hump was invented for aerodynamic reasons. On the street, I suppose it could act like a vent as well. I've also heard that its design can help you get into a slide if you crash on a track. But at the same time, if you're not experienced, it can cause you to go into a roll, probably because...

Hiring Immigrants instead of " our own people "

IF you haven't actually worked with foreign-trained professionals, please sit your dumb, ignorant *** out of this conversation. You are all embarassing yourself. 1) If they didn't know they'd be driving taxi cabs for a few years first, they're not smart enough to be doctors! -you don't know...

    Ear protection?

I use the beige 32 db ones that you can get for cheap from shopper's or wal-mart. Give them a try; you won't ride without them after. I only ever ride without plugs if it's short jaunts where I know I won't be going faster than 60-80 km/h. And when I am, I'm freaking out at how the engine sounds...

    Gas stations & motorcycles rant!

Seriously? A fireball erupts in front of you and you're going to remove the nozzle from the tank, put the kickstand down, dismount, and get away from the bike in a time not appreciably different from what it takes a person already standing to pull out the nozzle and take a few steps back? More...

    Jack Layton dead at 61

In a way, you're right, and yet I disagree. People looked to Jack Layton for happiness in a way similar to the way they looked to Princess Diana for happiness. Jack Layton making an appearance at various functions made people happy; watching Jack Layton give a speech made them happy, just as...

MotoGP Braking Techniques with Kevin Schwantz

Well if your rear wheel is losing contact with the pavement during braking, why would you bother using the rear brake? You won't get any braking at best and at worst you'll flatspot the tire or go into a skid. Not that my own bike has front brakes nearly powerful enough to do that. I notice a...

    Jack Layton dead at 61

I have to say; I don't particularly disagree with a state funeral. Well, maybe I do, maybe I don't; it's not that big a deal. But what kills me is how Layton's supporters are going on as though this is merely the least we could do. Not two days ago these people were criticizing Harper for...

    Riders beware!

I remember on one of my first outings on my motorcycle, I came to a red light and a particularly attractive young lady was jogging across the intersection not five feet from me. The good lord had evidently smiled upon her, and her rack was both abundant, buoyant, and on display in a tank top...
