James Bay ride, Canada day long weekend, Friday to Monday

Aggressive schedule. Good luck! Oh, and that was meant as "do not plan on camping". Bring 5L of bug spray too.

James Bay ride, Canada day long weekend, Friday to Monday

No camping is recommended. You can book a room in Radisson. Or you can book a room in Matagami, ride half-way out to Rupert's Falls and back (that's a full day right there, and you'll need at least 10L fuel can with you), but that's not getting you to the Bay itself.

James Bay ride, Canada day long weekend, Friday to Monday

It depends on your destination. The southern-most point is Fort-Rupert, and that's already 1300km from Toronto. The better destination is way up past Rupert's Falls, but that stretch alone takes one day to go up, and a full day to return. Don't plan on night riding, the bear and moose out there...

James Bay ride, Canada day long weekend, Friday to Monday

You'll need a lot more than 3 days, I've done the trip 3x and less than 4 days is simply unattainable. Words to the wise... The roads north of North Bay deteriorate severely. By the time you get to Rouyn Noranda, you'll be crying for a break and a soft mattress.

FEELER: any interest in a wine ride this year?

Drinking and riding is not tolerated. There will be none of that. We use spittoons.

FEELER: any interest in a wine ride this year?

Last year (2014) we didn't have a wine ride set up on account of getting married in the middle of the wine-tasting time frame; the previous year (2013) we cancelled the first attempt on account of bad weather - and didn't bother reposting due to shortage of interest... .. so: is there any...

Looking for Moto Safety Volunteers for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

Exactly one week to go till the event. Over the past 3 weeks we lost 5 registered members from our team - so we still need support. If you find yourself with available time next weekend, even for just one day, consider registering and joining the Moto Safety team, we need more help especially...

Looking for Moto Safety Volunteers for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

How true: exactly as you say. Only, as an aside: the company isn't a charity, only the event(s) run by the company is a charity event - but it remains "for-profit". All of you nay-sayers who shudder at the thought of committing $25 for registration: DON'T COME, do us all a favour and find...

Looking for Moto Safety Volunteers for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

Remember that this is a FOR-PROFIT organization, but still the funds raised go to the hospital - as they do for the Lottery, the Hockey games, and whatever else the hospital is putting together to raise more money and increase awareness. But the most important thing to remember is that YOU - as...

Looking for Moto Safety Volunteers for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

Tony (and -D-), it's not about incentives, it's about participation. The $25 registration fee has a wide number of purposes - the first of which serves as a commitment to participate: some people would shrug off the $25 and not show up, but the majority of people who commit AND pay up usually...

Looking for Moto Safety Volunteers for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

My name is Nick and - together with the other two co-captains - would like to give you a more detailed intro to the Moto Safety Team and our roles. I understand some of you wish to join us, which is fantastic: we need about 100~120 people for this year's event. Last year (the 7th anniversary of...

Need a furnace expert asap please

Putting my initial question to rest: turns out it was an incorrect installation of the new Smart Thermostat - and on top of that, it was also a faulty unit. They [EnerSource] came over last week for a "final test" and found the problems. Both units were replaced, and tested thoroughly. Now I'm...

Need a furnace expert asap please

That's just it: to begin with, the fan doesn't activate unless it's set to heat. Two different technicians came to check the thermostat: first it was the EnerSource guys who installed the new "intelligent thermostat" and then it was Travis, who is a licensed AC technician (for outside); a 3rd...

Need a furnace expert asap please

The problem is inside - it has nothing to do with fuses or switches.

Need a furnace expert asap please

We are dying of heat. With the help of Travis, we tried various things on the furnace to get the thermostat to activate the air conditioner - and in the end, we concluded that a new logic board was required. Well, it came today, it was installed, and the reaction is EXACTLY the same as with the...

Looking for EXPERIENCED MOTORCYCLISTS to help at epic cycling event!

Almost right: we do NOT hold up traffic. In fact, we don't interfere with traffic in any way, shape, or form. What we do is STOP THE CYCLISTS until it's safe for them to proceed through the traffic condition (whether stop signs, traffic lights, blind turns, or simply giving right-of-way to...
