Front tire wobble, looks to be defective tire

The central ridge is the harder portion of their multi-compound rubber designed to provide more highway miles. I have Bridgestone S21s on one of my bikes, and the front has the same type of noticeable ridge in the middle. The softer rubber beside the ridge starts to become concave as it wears. I...

    Any machinists in the house?

Yes, you definitely don't want to swap a grinder into that stand thing just to make a couple of cuts. I semi-permanently mounted my worst grinder in the stand, and then went and bought a nicer grinder for handheld use. In terms of control, I always used the handle on the old grinder, but the...

Broke bolt extractor - what to do?

I need to get some machine tools. My reaction to the first 30 seconds of that video was "I would rather buy a new bike than drill through the length of a stainless steel bolt with my hand drill to make a drill guide". :ROFLMAO: The abrasive hole saw is an interesting idea though. Confession...

    Getting someone's attention

The most I will do is signal folks that are driving at night without their headlights on. I pull the parking brake a notch in the car so the DRL will go off, then turn the low beams on and off a couple of times. Cutting the DRL and turning the low beams on is more noticeable as a deliberate...

Broke bolt extractor - what to do?

That's a good point. I will file this away and hope that I remember it when it inevitably comes time that I need to use it.

Broke bolt extractor - what to do?

Is your first picture from before or after the extractor broke and stuck in it? I can't really see much, if any, of the extractor stuck in there. I've shattered rotary cutoff discs trying to cut slots in similar recessed things, so dig out your safety glasses. Pretty sure I was trying to cut...

MotoGP 2025 Discussion Thread *Warning: Spoilers allowed*

This would be easy if they knew whether the audio clips started at the start/finish line. Much harder if the clips started at some random point in the lap. The Mugello one definitely isn't starting on the front straight, but you can't tell if that's just from the video editing or not...

It looks like Oliveira has managed to transfer his curse of getting taken out by other riders onto Mir.

    Aim Solo2

I have no personal experience with the ZX10R fitment, but I've seen a few of these around the pits and they seem pretty solid: https://419racing.com/lap-timer-mounts/

    Any machinists in the house?

I picked up one of these on sale a while back and it reduces a lot of the angle-grinder trepidation. It turns an angle grinder into a mini-chopsaw. I couldn't justify the shop space for a real chopsaw, and this thing just lives on a shelf above my workbench. There's a cheaper version that's...

Where do you guys go for new tires?

I'm up to 6 or 8 tire changes a season now (track), so doing it myself provides the convenience of being able to swap tires any time that I need. Mounting tires isn't exactly pleasant, but it's pretty easy when you figure out the technique. The cost of the gear isn't really a factor: less than...

MotoGP 2025 Discussion Thread *Warning: Spoilers allowed*

It's a weird thing to complain about, but I think that I haven't been commenting much this season because of event saturation. Everything starts to blur together between the sprints and the increased number of race weekends. I've always watched Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE as well, so that's a lot of...

What's the one thing you always forget or wish you'd brought on long trip on 2 wheels?

Large safety pins or bulldog paper clips to close the annoying bright gap in the motel curtains. A small damp microfiber cloth attached to a retractable badge reel to wipe the bugs off the helmet visor on the fly.

Country Living (septic, well water, etc.) ... who's done it?

Same here. The main thing was power outages. Electric well pump means no water when the power is off. Plus, even if you did have water pressure from an elevated pressure tank, the electric water heater meant it was gonna be cold. It took me a decade to unlearn that after moving to a place with...

    Tire stuck!

A large C-clamp may work. If the tire is super stubborn you can spray the bead with WD-40 or soapy water, crank the clamp down and leave it overnight. Use a board to distribute the force of the clamp across a wide section of the opposite rim.

What do you wear under your track suit?

Yes, I prefer long sleeve and full leg. Even though the suit itself will have a lining, an extra layer helps with comfort under the knee and elbow armour. Any kind of slippery stretchy fabric will work. Anything that's not slippery will make the suit harder to get on and off, and if it's too...

    Gear indicator

Healtech lists the GIpro X-type G2 + the GPX-WSS universal harness for the S40. I've got an Amazon knockoff of the Healtech on my old track bike and it's okay. These type read the RPM and the vehicle speed signals, then do some math to figure out what gear you're in. There's a noticeable delay...

    storage dolly recommendation?

I was thinking that a good storage solution could inspire the father to realize that he could fit way more bikes into that space, so really it would be a win/win for everyone. But yeah, any solution would have to be more convenient for the father overall, and have no chance of damaging the bike...
