I could tell you a whole bunch of tests to perform but nothing would be reliable, things would be done out of order, and it would be reported back as somethibg later to be "I meant this when I said that."

If it's dropping down to 6 V and not letting smoke out somewhere, or heating something up enough to notice then it is not good.
I don't think I want to know how the car, the booster (being used as a voltmeter??) and the bike were hooked up together.
If that starting system is dropping a car battery to 6V than there is something like a rag all tied up in the gears under that cover that was removed.
Use a T-bolt clamp on it. They can be found nice and cheap at Princess Auto in the hydraulics section.
Also... we might be totally missing something obvious. A better picture of more of the system might help... Including the mount.
