    Ballycanoe Revisited Oct. 29 2026

Since you're close by you could also try the Arcol Rd/Barry Lake Trail that runs from Oompah to the 511 (just south of Calabogie). There's nothing "trail" about it as it's basically just fire roads with a touch of doubletrack. It also allows you to be as adventurous as you want as there's plenty...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Agreed. I also hate heights though so there's also that. If I could find someone local to string my Christmas lights on the highest peak at my home I would gladly pay them as I hate going up there.

    2026 Rides

I don’t usually ride on weekends but the weather was looking good Sunday so I spent the day hitting the twisty roads around Westport before heading out through Wagarville and Arden up to the 506. Cold 4c in the morning but it hit 19c later in the day. Beautiful day out and tons of bikes.

    Fall colours

Try Codeman's BBQ food truck across from the Foodland in Cobourg. The guy who started Yorkie's bbq (also in Cobourg) sold it and opened the food truck.

A nice scenic dirt road you should try next time you're out that way is Canoe Lake Rd that runs off Bedford Rd. Bedford Rd from the south end onto Canoe Lake Rd, then Burridge Rd up to 36 and take 36 to 7 is a nice mix of roads that never seem to be busy.

Pro 6 Cycle closing the storefront

I bought my 1290SAR at Peak's Oakville store and can HIGHLY recommend them. They're a good 2-2.5hr drive from my place where I pass other closer KTM dealers along the way that have lost my business and I gladly drive the distance because they still value their customers. I hope they continue to...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Just give the steelies a quick touchup with some black Tremclad when you put them away in the Spring and they'll keep from looking nasty. I also bought a set of black lugs to use in the winter that can both match the steelies and take the salt abuse over the chrome oem's.

525 Chain; Which is best/worst? Where to buy?

Both are quality but compare tensile strength to make sure you're comparing equal quality chains between brands. Can't go wrong with a DID VX3 and they're not crazy expensive. Fakes are out there for both brands so avoid Ebay/etc.

I don't know how y'all city slickers do it...

Good roads and trails both start at my driveway but if I lived downtown I'd for sure have a bike. I typically avoid going anywhere that's busy enough to have traffic lights but I recently went to the Jays final home game and the riders of bikes enjoying zipping through traffic and easily finding...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Tis the season to fix the poor job the builders did of installing garage door seals. I had gaps averaging 1.5" on 3 doors with most not close enough to the door either so fixing those up should make a big difference. The trim itself was in fine condition just cut too short so I bought a matching...

    TV shows currently watching

Finished up the new Grand Tour series. I enjoy the Throttle House YT reviews so I'm familiar with the main two guys but Francis isn't a good fit imo. He's supposed to be the geeky awkward comedy role guy but I just find him awkward and annoying. The train fun-facts can leave with him. Was an...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Tempting although I'd really prefer the 1260 version. I'll keep it saved and keep an eye on it.

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

I saw one at the dealer when I was shopping for a Multistrada. I recall looking the 1200X over and thinking what a terrible idea building that bike was with its massive weight and weird mix of nice pretty bits along with cheap afterthoughts added. The Multistrada 1260 Enduro was sitting close by...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

"The Get Out" was an ok watch. Russell Crowe was quite good in it. I enjoyed "In The Grey" more than I expected. I also upgraded my home theatre and rewatched "BladeRunner 2049" to put it through its paces. Been a while since the first watch and of course the movie is still excellent. May...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Leaving the generator near the hookup or wheeling it out when needed? If it's the latter, consider building a sound isolating box for it as it makes a huge difference. I built one out of scrap plywood I had laying around and put hinges on the walls so I can fold it up out of the way when not...
