Service Ontario queues are insane now

I went to Stittsville near opening, which is the wrong time. The issue with my earlier run might have been getting the X removed from my license at the same time. An hour after opening would have been a better time to show. Walkley, which is the drivetest centre is a nightmare unless you have...

Service Ontario queues are insane now

The one I’m at used to be like that. Now they have a kiosk to check in, and appointments are more than a month out. I went to do this earlier, but they said it was too early. The website says 180 days.\_O_/

    Skilled trades college

Seems difficult to get into a trade nowadays. In my dad's and my time, you went to the union(675), signed up as an apprentice or journeyman, got your book, and were sent out to jobs. If you were an apprentice, they'd send you to Casa Loma campus for a short course later. Both my kids tried to...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Return of the Native and Who has seen the wind, here. Can a novel where a heath is a character, be fun? No. I lobbied hard for the Scarlet Pimpernel, but my English teacher pre-decided that it was all plot.

    2026 Rides

Is it better again? Last time I was there, decades ago, the burgers were raw. We stopped there for years when I was a kid, because you could climb all over the trains, and they had a rabbit pen. We used to eat our burgers on the roof of the caboose. I'm pretty sure that's no longer allowed...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

There are supposedly cars now that you can't change the brake pads on, without connecting to a dealer network and using their software. The era of the $500 oil change is approaching.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Neighbour is getting a fourth car, a model Y. I think our federal taxes might be subsidizing it.

    Portable Tire Inflators

I have a separate jump starter. Couldn’t find one that would boost and fill more than a half a tire for a decent price.

    Ear buds

I have some Bose QC earbuds, as well as, hearing aids that both fit in my C5 helmet. Both would disappear quickly, were I to wear them regularly. The C5’s built in speakers are good enough with foam earplugs.

    Portable Tire Inflators

I ended up with a usb one from Costco. The 12 v plug in ones would blow fuses in all of my vehicles. I think I got mine on sale, https://www.costco.ca/fanttik-s200-apex-tire-inflator.product.4000403043.html

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

They like stains and rotting wood. Hope that bugs haven't moved in. Paper is there in case something was nesting in the hole. It is easier to tear/dig/eat through a sheet of newspaper than a sheet of drywall. If the paper is intact in a couple more days, I'll patch it with tin. One family...

We’ve been visited by a Woodpecker, so I got out some newspaper and duct tape and sealed a few holes that it made

Pizza tends to be more consistent. Will the hotdogs or pizza have pork in them? That would rule out some people.

    Tool Deals Thread

Went to the Home Depot to get one. Looked all over the Milwaukee displays and couldn’t find one. Went up the aisle where two of the staff were discussing getting another lock cage for these, since inventory showed them having thirty-six and the one gentleman could only find seven.

GP Bikes: A Masterclass in Operational Incompetence and Mechanical Neglect

Successful motorcycle shops become a victim of their own success. Eventually, they get too much business and have to hire more staff. I've had the issue from every shop I've been to, except my most recent, and others have complained about it. First shop I ever took my bike to, was Ontario...
