Imagine this sitting on a few plastic legs?

I bought it used. I think 1999 or 2000.

I still have my Brodie Fury. Before he sold the name. Must be at least 25 years old. Just replaced the cables and both shifters.

I wouldn't hesitate installing the floor over the whole floor. Standard practice. We refuse to use any "leg" to support cabinets. We build full kicks and scribe them to the floor. I would suggest anything you can do to distribute the weight over the islands footprint would be the best way to go.

Exclusive in that not everyone has the $ ability to purchase. Scarce? Hell no.

Purchased my Speedmaster new in 2015 for $5200. Crazy prices now.

Luxury items have less to do with value and more to do with exclusivity. High cost reinforces the latter.

I've been using the same one for about 20 years.

Scoring blade, 10' sliding table. She's nice even after 20 years of daily use.

I've spent countless hours using this.

I believe throttle by wire is the key. At that point it's just a software thing. I could be completely wrong.:unsure:
