I don't know what else to tell you. I was one of the ones complaining about the bales in the TMP thread last year, too. I was there this weekend. The bales are there and they adequately cover the "impact zone" of the wall.
The wrapped hay bails were two rows deep running all the way until where the pit wall straightens out. It might not be the greatest but it was adequate.
