    How to Ride in Traffic

As a daily commuter on the 401, I agree wholeheartedly with the article.

Anyone ever done a car (not Motorcycle) track day?

Another vote for DDT here. About 15 years ago when I was active on car-forums, I did the Ian Law Racing school at mosport DDT and it was an absolute blast. Its the most fun you can have with your pants on, for sure. I've since done a few more days at DDT, Shannonville and Dunnville, but DDT...

    Sept1 licensing fees

Do you have any proof that if conservatives were in power, these licensing fees wouldn't have increased? Of course you don't, the question was rhetorical - there is no way to prove one way or another that any politician or political party would be doing anything better than those currently in...

    Freevalve....

Indeed - which makes Fiat's system MUCH more practical and traditional than Freevalve, but still limited to timing with the cam shaft. Freevalve is pretty badass, but that level of flexibility is almost not required; i mean, the valves still have to be timed with the cylinders? Cams make way...

    Good morning

Good morning! Enjoyed a blissful commute today, traffic was very sparse this morning - I guess everyone tryina get it in before summer's up. Work is bountiful right now, and I'm glad to have some stability, so I will work today, but try to leave early and head to the local (outdoor) pool with...

    Having difficulty selling your bike?

LOL -D-, you asked (on an open forum) what we all think of your ad, so I gave my (perhaps a little harsh) feedback. No need to fling insults in either direction, but your ad should state that the bike has a "rebuilt title", and I think mentioning the size of the ditch that your boy was found...

HMFS! Plates for High-Risk Bikes in Quebec are expensive!

Where else do you recommend we look? That's a pretty big risk, though, not being able to inspect, start or see the bike in person before buying. You'd need a really committed seller to give you all of the info, which I imagine would be rare for bikes that are high in demand.

    Having difficulty selling your bike?

That ad is ****ing terrible... he manages to contradict himself several times, which makes the whole thing sound like lies. "The bad - none, I have to get a battery since this is likely dead (in storage)." So the bad is that it needs a new battery "...clear/clean street title. My buddy’s...

    Freevalve....

Desmo just uses cams to open AND cams to close the valves. Tradtional systems close (seal) the valves with springs, and only use cams to open the valves. This system seems to close the valves with a spring, and open with a pneumatic actuator... the benefit being that pneumatic actuators are...

    Motorcycles and Laptop carrying

Amazing - I JUST looked this up last week, because I actually have to transport a laptop to and from work for a few weeks (short term project), and dont wanna have to deal with 401 traffic on 4-wheels... pretty much what everyone has said regarding HDDs... I just used a bungee net and tied...

pneumatically controlled - so what kind of pressure will it need, and now you gotta have a compressed air system in the car? hmmmm......

    Mechanical engineering

Little late to the party here, and most people are right, however I can't echo the sentiments that an M.Eng is useless, let me clarify: To the OP, I think going after an M.Eng at this stage in your game in order to solidify a certain pay-scale, get a job or advance in a company is the wrong...

    Shell Gas Station Policy

Polygamy's okay, just move to Utah, son. The place has awesome mountain activities and twistys right out your front door, too, all you gotta do is give up the booze (which is easy for some of us). ANYWAY I agree that allowing a burka is BS, in certain scenarios; have any of you traveled to a...

    Bicyclists should have insurance...

Many more blind spots and distractions when you're in your truck. Also, your truck is much more lethal to everyone else around you, than it is to yourself, so you need to operate it more carefully, than, say a bicycle, or any other human-powered vehicle. On a bicycle, your ignorance of road...

    Bicyclists should have insurance...

Oh ****, so I guess we'll need helmets for pedestrians? I mean, cuz as soon as you cross the road on foot, you become a "road user", and technically, you should learn the rules of the road, especially what to do and how to to cross the road effectively. What has happened to you to cause you to...
