    Anyone make jerky?

This was my first time. I wanted a snack for mountaineering so salty and carbs are good. For 1 kg of eye round I started with this recipe. 1 cup (packed) dark brown sugar 1 cup soy sauce 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon unseasoned meat tenderizer...

    Anyone make jerky?

Mine has 4 hours to go. Eye round. I used black strap molasses instead of sugar.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I need to soundproof a wall that runs alongside the stairs. I suspect that noise is transferring through the wall because the electrical panel is on the other side of it. There might not be any insulation between the wall and the electrical panel. My plan is to use sonopan with drywall on top...

Interesting podcast with Isabella Weber's alternative view on inflation causes and solutions. It might even apply to housing in Canada. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2023-06-08/isabella-weber-on-the-big-inflation-rethink-odd-lots

Iberville 1104-L vs 1104-LA. Technically, the Iberville catalog lists the 1104-L as compatible with AC, but 1104-LA works way better. Has anyone encountered any problems with inspectors when using the 1104-L for AC installations?

Electric Truck - Anyone have a Ford Lightning or Pre Order a Silverado EV?

I noticed that the speedometer actually reached 73 mph, while claiming not to feel the load. Not hearing the engine revving hides how hard the engine is working. He might be driving the limit, but it's pretty high at 70. How much more gas would a gas-powered f150 take when towing like that? RE...

    Torque wrench 5ft/lb - 80 ft/lb

I guess my Husky torque wrench is tougher than your pansy EGA. Note bullet 3. My 3/4 torque wrench goes up to 250ft/lbs. That's a reasonable qualification to use it to loosen overtightened wheel nuts.

    Torque wrench 5ft/lb - 80 ft/lb

What are we betting on? https://images.homedepot.ca/pdf/%20Specifications_1000788224-pdf.pdf Look up how click torque wrenches work. It will make sense why using them as breaker bars(within reason) does not change their calibration.

    Torque wrench 5ft/lb - 80 ft/lb

Why would it damage a click torque wrench? After it clicks the spring is not getting any additional pressure. Sure when you get in to breaker bar with extension territory you can damage the wrench, but for loosening over torqued wheels I can't see a problem.

I am looking for suggestions to protect the tarmac driveway when working on the car. There's a (good) chance rust, oil, brake fluid will leak. Something like an oversized shoe tray would be awesome. Any sugestions?

    First step in privatizing healthcare?

    First step in privatizing healthcare?

Hearing how public school system is degrading while education ministers have their kids in private school makes me question how good private healthcare will be. For public anything to work there needs to be some common stake. Crime and theft is rampant. Police and the the justice system are not...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Good insight. Does anyone know what "bird poop" duct sealant is actually called? It's a ruberry sealant that is painted on duct seams to seal them. It's gray, its sticky, and looks like bird poop when someone brushes against it.
