    2026 WSBK (spoilers allowed)

The surprise of yesterday and this morning: Iker Lecuona. How much has that Honda been holding him back over the years?

    Where's my balls?

Also, if that cage is missing, the balls can all go to one side of the bearing and allow the central race to shift to the other side by enough to allow balls to escape. That (in the putting-together direction, as opposed to the coming-apart direction, of course) is how they assemble the balls...

    Where's my balls?

Yeah, those chunks of plastic used to be the cage that held those balls correctly spaced!

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

My Bolt needs the gearbox oil changed at 150 000 km, and the coolant loops (3 of them) flushed at 5 years. That's the only scheduled maintenance related to powertrain. Tires, wiper blades, interior cabin filter, wheel bearings, suspension parts etc are same as any other car, except brakes last...

    Pooched CDI??

Black with yellow stripe is ground. This diagram indicates that one side of the coil is grounded all the time. The other side is only going to get intermittent pulses of power when the CDI wants a spark. There is no circumstance when it will apply constant battery power. A normal meter isn't...

    VFR coolant leak

If it's just evaporating, yes. Also means that topping off with distilled water will restore the proper concentration. If it's leaking, that won't be the case.

    VFR coolant leak

I suspect it is fine. The level in the reservoir was probably ignored for a long time, and the water does slowly evaporate. Once the level drops so low that steam bubbles don't condense because the level has dropped too low, the rate of boiling-off greatly accelerates.

    R3 Tire Suggestion

I use Pirelli slicks on mine, normally compound SC1. Could not get Dunlop slicks to stay together. But, I suspect this doesn't do the original poster any good, if this is for a street bike. On other bikes (street), Dunlop Q5S have worked well for me. Good quality sport touring tires are plenty...

Hockey bags for lugging/storing moto gear (off bike)

Well, I just unpacked what I need out of the hire car for the moment. The stuff in the hockey bag rearranged itself a bit, but looks like it survived. N.B. I'm in Mojacar, Spain looking out over the Mediterranean. 20 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. I have a couple days to get my head around...

What did you do in your garage today..?

It isn't really obvious, but I didn't look that hard. I'm sure a pressure test underwater would turn it up. There are quite a few areas on the old radiator with damaged fins.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Update: Fixed. I hate the price of OEM parts, but I hate aftermarket parts. The Amazon radiator had one of the spigots as an elbow pointing down whereas it should have been straight. This had to be modified because it interfered with the coolant recovery tank. I dealt with this by cutting most...

Hockey bags for lugging/storing moto gear (off bike)

I use a hockey bag for transporting my moto gear on overseas trips. Helmet in its bag in the middle, gloves inside it, boots and leathers and other clothing packed around it. It's packed right now for an upcoming trip ... but that's a different subject 😁

What did you do in your garage today..?

Amazon says the new radiator has shipped, so I did the messy job of pulling the stock cooling module out. It's in rough shape, not that this surprises me one bit.

    Cutting 6mm aluminum plate

Time for a trip to Bolts Plus for compatible socket-head cap screws ... or flat-head machine screws if they have a tapered recessed head.
