Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

These Billy bookcases have been in kicking around not installed in the house for ~16 years as I didn't get my act together when we moved... (well to be fair the room they were going in was well down the reno list an is now almost done, so they have a proper home now). Long since discontinued...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

We bought a used ornamental iron fence on Kijiji for $600 (actually made out of galvanized steel but made to look like wrought iron...). It came with a couple of gates and at least 55' of fence plus all the hardware and posts. It was almost 6' tall, I modified it to 41" and used in around our...

Has the city lost it's mind...

Lots of scrap yards will take the don't ask, don't tell approach. Back in the 90s my uncle worked for a copper tubing manufacturer. They were buying scrap and noticed that it was their copper... long story short inside job, working with a truck driver and a scrapper. Frequent extra roll on the...

    Inverters !

I have run "propane" refrigerant in older cars after repairs, the DIY stuff they sell at CT, PA, etc. marketed as R12a (not R12) et.al is basically propane. IME it works much better at cooling than the "proper stuff". Just make sure to label the port to not contaminate some techs AC recovery...

Country Living (septic, well water, etc.) ... who's done it?

As others noted check cell and Internet availability. BTW Starlink is sold out in many rural places in Canada so don't take it for granted either.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Many jails are operating at or over capacity, there is a storage problem that needs to be solved and is feeding into this. It is easy to complain about soft judges, bail reform, blah, blah, but at the same time they need to work with the above.... Doug can fix the above with money.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Not sure for the case above but the stump can be in a place where they can't get their machinery into.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

For a large stump that was cut flat close to the ground...I always wondered if cutting multiple groves in it with a circular saw and then breaking off the chunks between the groves...rinse and repeat would work.

    COVID and the housing market

I also imagine that if you applied to make it a residential building even with zero external changes it will be a hard NO.

    COVID and the housing market

The core issue is the building may be (or is) in a floodplain and---according to the article---the local conservation authority is very slow to respond due to internal issues. The conservation authority likely controls the floodplain there--not the city. It is not uncommon to have existing...

    Air Canada

The normal flight speed will be a combination of fuel efficiency and desired time. They can always pour the coals to it and go faster to make up some time at the expense of more fuel...within limits.

    Reverse mortgage...redux

You will find strong opinions both ways... great idea, terrible idea... I sit in the middle, it just needs to work for your situation. I do see it as a shorter term solution and not a decades one. Keep in mind they will likely have fairly strict home maintenance requirements to maintain value...

    25'th Anniversary....and no plans. :(

So someone is impacted by orange stupidity, maybe more than most of us, and they should just live their life? Is that suck it up? Personally I hold everyone in high regard that is standing up for Canada with their actions, on their own accord, in anyway they can these days. We need more of that...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

There are many variables but impaired drivers tend have a higher survivability rate because they are totally relaxed at the time of impact.

Everybody Give Me Wrong Battery, Even When I Give Them My Ownership

If the battery is too tall I would just cut it to make it smaller. Don't be stupid... cut it from the bottom not the top. The top is where the terminals are and if you cut it there you won't have a place to connect up the wires! :ROFLMAO:

    North shore of Lake Superior

Beware of animals and avoid dusk and dawn if you can. If dusk or dawn is necessary stick behind another vehicle, let them take the hit... Even in summer the weather can be miserable (heavy rain) so if you have some flexibility to wait a day or so it can pay off. Plan fuel stops if your bike has...

Getting a bike from Quebec without lisense

I see one in Mississauga for sale for a couple grand more with lower mileage. Factor in hassle, trailer rental, fuel, risk, etc... seems like a no brainer to skip the Quebec one??? As others noted, if you have limited riding experience, it is a bad choice for a first bike. ALSO, get an...
