Hardened masking tape on fairings - best way to remove?

At Pearson, a reno used stainless steel cladding and they left the protective paper on to protect the finish during construction. I think they ended up replacing the stainless. BTW I have a small quantity of 20 YO acrylic with bonded paper covering. Same issue. The type of plastic is...

    Renting garage workspace

Just floating a thought but... A lot of condos really don't like people working on vehicles because some are pigs, leaving garbage and worse fluids to be disposed of. However not every DIY bike project is the restoration of a Vincent. Sometimes it's just an oil change, chain adjust, plugs or...

    Sea container storage.

The sea cans that go cheap could be unusable for shipping. Check for leaks and possibility of toxins. They may also go cheap due to the cost of shipping them back to the Pacific rim. Sometimes there's a glut. I don't know if desiccants (Calcium chloride) help.

I was thinking the front side and top being like a gull wing, just over four feet high when closed. ~ eight feet only when open for business. Check first. Bikes are higher than thought.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

First world problems. You can afford to live inside a house, have a pool, deck and shoes but want to use them selectively whenever you please. Re Trex, what size are the grooves on this type. Big enough to stuff piping into fed from headers on both ends. ~ $10 SF

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Heating cables need a bit of moisture to keep from overheating. Too much isn’t good. I actually developed the underpaver system 40 years ago. It made millions. For the company. I got a clock radio for the idea.

    Motorcycle industry in Canada (Ontario)

My general attitude borders on boomer and X with a side order of mutual respect. Livable wage is the tough call. Having acquired a lot of stuff over the years my needs list is pretty short. I've taken on jobs for nothing because they were interesting. #1) An empty nest senior couple, owning a...

A caution: When I got my unit I got hit on by friends that needed space to store stuff. One offered me $200 for winter storage to store a boat that would take up a quarter of my shop. He would also expect to be able to work on it. No thanks. Another friend was in denial about his divorce...

    Renting garage workspace

In my post I said wait for a recession. In the 1990 one I paid about $60,000 for about 1500 SF. $42 per SF. I was too eager. Six months later they auctioned them off. The going price for mine would have been $26 SF. Larger units, 5000 SF went for $19 SF. I should have kept mine instead of...

Assume ten guys and 1500 square feet. You lose a couple of hundred SF to aisles, washrooms, clearances etc so each guy gets a 12' X 12' square at best for one bike and tools. Count on $20 / SF per year so $30,000 / 10 / 12 = $250 per month. If zoning is an issue it could be more. Automotive...

This is not getting any better

Criminals create complex laws as they find loopholes. We're all susceptible to breaking speeding laws. Downhill, clear line of sight, good road, optics, clear weather etc. Driving without a license is deliberate. Zero tolerance and mercy. The DUI, I'm an alcoholic and therefore sick excuse...

This is not getting any better

True again but truly good people don't need any laws at all. Commercial drivers need fingerprint technology on their license. A grainy postage stamp sized picture of a guy with half his face hidden doesn't do the job.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

A guy I met put in an in-ground pool five feet deep everywhere and built a shelter over it. He firmly stated it was a SWIMMING pool, all or nothing. Not for posers. He let some local lifeguard types use it to teach swimming not wading.

Having the wrong license is the same as driving without one. All the piece of plastic is, is identification. He got caught at least once before, as the interlock indicates. How many runs did he make before getting caught? How many accomplices did he have? Who handed him the keys? Who knew what...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Water takes one btu per pound for a one degree temperature rise. A 12 diameter pool 3 feet deep contains 340 cubic feet of water weighing 62.5 Lb / CF = 21200 pounds. To raise the temperature one degree it would take about a half hour using a 12000 watt heater. At 120 volts that's 100 amperes...
