Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

There’s no super magic underlay these days that is thicker than most for this job? I'd be fine with up to a 1/2 inch rise in floor height here as I can cope with that.

    Restaurants

Plus if you buy the top shelf ingredients they are most likely there for 10s or maybe hundreds more dishes (unless they are fresh). One of our favourite restaurants was a German schnitzel place. It did reasonably basic tasty food very very well and consistently (important) at fair prices. It...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Since things are quiet with one dog gone now I'm thinking of doing a floor in the master bedroom. It was going to be underfloor heating but now that we have a mini split it can be a lot simpler as there’s no need for that. I’d like to insulate it a bit more and fill any gaps I find as this is...

    Restaurants

If I can cook it I don’t want to pay a fortune for it. If I can’t then I'm ok forking out a bit but it’s silly prices now. Burgers for $20? Not a chance. I don’t care if they come with grated unicorn horn on it. We hardly ever go out for a meal now. Instead we spend the cash on ingredients...

    Where to get a puppy?

No, he had a growth that ruptured, I had to rush him into the vet where the hard facts were explained to us. I was hoping it would be a quick stitching and wound cleaning but that was just optimism. He had quite a few other issues, he was nearly 14 and we knew the time was approaching soon, I...

    Where to get a puppy?

Thank you. In the fridge right now are slices of the leanest ham, some European wieners, a couple of Polish kabanosi and uncooked sausage (that his personal chefs …us…prepare) that I’d bought for him to encourage him to eat well. This isn’t my food. There’s a bottle of CBD oil that we drove...

    Where to get a puppy?

Thanks. Little bugger has left a hole a mile wide that I'm failing to even fill a little bit with brandy. His sister seems a bit lost so spending time with her helps. They give so much, ask so little and love unconditionally. If only people were like them.

    Where to get a puppy?

Love them to bits every day. A few hours ago I had to say goodbye to my little man.

cr Long way around on Air Canada

On the Caribbean side you can go from mountain to jungle to beach on a 15 min walk! That's my favourite part of Costa Rica but it’s a PITA to get to. Worth it though as there's less tourists than the Pacific side.

Is kijiji no longer a thing?

I sold some expensive camera equipment once and had a buddy hang around just in case. Not sure what our plan was in case it all went south but it seemed like a good idea.

    Metal Roofing?

These things have to be replaced with a new thatched roof since they have historic significance. As far as I know there’s a single digit number of artisans in the UK that still do this. Not sure about replacement interval but when I was last there I saw a few that were green with moss and/or...

    Metal Roofing?

I don’t quite understand why metal roofs are so expensive. It’s not like it’s NASA technology or anything and installing larger sheets of metal vs smaller shingles should be easier no? My home town in the UK still has some houses with thatched roofs if we want to talk outrageous replacement fees.

Is kijiji no longer a thing?

There’s a rudimentary ratings thing on Marketplace which is better than nothing. Otherwise I get sick and tired of the no shows and the replies to a post that says “free first come first served” “hi, will you deliver it….for free too?”.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

The Park Tool Guy has retired! Someone on here put me on to his repair and maintenance videos and they’ve been great.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I got a Decathlon gravel bike. It’s a great bike. Decathlon sells at many levels, the lower ones aren’t great in terms of components but the higher level ones are great value.

    TV shows currently watching

The second season of The Night Manager just started on BBC1 today. International release on Jan 11th. The first season was incredible. A great remake of a Le Carre novel. This second season is brand brand new in terms of story though as Le Carre died in 2020 and the first season covered the...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I like my Trek Rosco hardtail. Pretty decent specs/price and I saw a few on marketplace while I was looking for one so they crop up occasionally.

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Watched another one from the BBC list. One Battle After Another with Leonardo diCaprio According to all the reviews this should have been a sleeper Oscar contender/film of the year yadda yadda yadda. It was good, but not that good. The main actors are really good but Benicio del Toro and...

    Where to get a puppy?

If the furball has hound in it then make sure your yard is escape proof. They are experts at escaping. Our rescue beagle used to regularly escape but would come back after a bit but only after begging for pizza crusts at a local pizzeria. We're reasonably sure that’s how she survived when she...
