I've had the same battle with 8" trailer tires. A couple of days ago I put 2 new front tires on my lawn tractor. I used this method. It was pretty easy.

In order for those to work, they would have to depress the valve core and crack open the internal sealing gasket. I would have more confidence in the valve core seat, than the seat of the likely Chinese made cap.
