The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Brampton bus driver making sure they blend in with traffic. Blasted through a red long after the opposing direction went green. https://www.facebook.com/reel/882289531303547/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

    COVID and the housing market

Smart buyers limit upgrades at purchase to things that are impossible to do later. Higher ceiling heights, deeper basement, etc.

Damn. That builder was unusual. Normally the actual cost has almost nothing to do with the price of the substitution. I know one subdivision where standard kitchen cabinets cost builder ~$25K. If you wanted kitchen without cabinets, you got a $1k credit. If you wanted upgraded cabinets, it was...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Given that it's a liberal policy, my guess is most end up in Quebec. Reward their base with cheap(er) vehicles.

Why? Too small? Clown car? Thinks you'll get bored of it? Could you figure out plow mounts for a leased car? Cheaper than a tractor. Bev normally have some weight to them.

What Are You Paying For Premium Fuel

The mini gets premium as it's high strung. Most bikes for a similar reason. Now that ethanol can't be avoided, everything else gets regular.

East Coast (and maybe bc) took that to the extreme. East Coast rate is fixed for a week or a month. It is fixed at the highest rate they expect for that period. Moronic law.

The upside to ecms is they are slightly ubiquitous. Every engine has similar sensors and hardware. Bcm's are more complicated as they vary so much, I don't know if third party options exist.

    Cuba...

Their vehicle fleet isn't exactly peak efficiency either. I know many of their cars used to start on gas and then switch over to lower quality fuel once warm but without tourists, there is not much reason to start the cars.

What Are You Paying For Premium Fuel

Spread at costco prior to covid was pretty consistently 0.10 when most stations were >0.20. Spread at costco now is 0.20 or more. I don't think I've seen a 0.66 spread at any normal gas station. Ultramar in Cobourg used to have decent prices but the last few times I checked, it was nothing...

    COVID and the housing market

Interesting view into condo market. A "luxury" condo in Hamilton started process in 2016 and pulled building permit in 2022 with expected construction value of $77M. 313 units, 258 sold, 43 failed to close. Builder is now insolvent as they needed money from units closing to pay obligations...

    COVID and the housing market

They are not. That is clear. Base house only, no inclusion of lot premiums, upgrades, other phases, etc. Easy to manipulate price of base house down through incentives during a sale. If things looks like they are going sideways, mattamy can ensure that no houses with that model and elevation are...

There is a checkbox for more detailed calculations. That allows you to change length, frequency, mileage, etc.

That's a good position to be in but I would still pay for some advice. BC has at least a couple good fee for service advisors. Throwing 4k their way can easily save you 100K in taxes if they help you avoid an inoptimal path.

    COVID and the housing market

Exactly. Mattamy would have to royally screw up to be exposed to any downside here.

    COVID and the housing market

Mattamy is obviously concerned about the lack of sales. They are now giving rebates if the price drops. Rebate is based on the base price of a similar house 30 days before closing. Easy enough to play with numbers so people feel secure but Mattamy is never at risk of paying out...

Meanwhile on reddit the morons are asking if now is the time to buy. Throwing money into a fund that has permanently blocked redemption is burning it, not investing.
