What's going on with this tire?

I wouldn't know what to look for with a strut/shock, and don't have a good way to get under the car. I know once I ask my dealer about it, what they're going to say. LOL. However I can say that I noticed no issues driving the season with my summers (the problem tire here was with a winter I...

What's going on with this tire?

Thanks everybody. Thank you all. That explains why that one spot would wear out. I assume those quills are only found deep in the tire and that explains why we don't normally see them. Car is at the nearest tire place waiting for a replacement. They were suggesting an alignment but it...

What's going on with this tire?

We put my snow tires and noticed this weird spot. There are little sharp pieces projecting obliquely across the surface of the mirror. It looks completely bald in this area, and the profile looks all off. The rest of the tire seems fine. I'm scratching my head trying to understand what could...

    Metric socket head cap screws

Ah, that's good to know. I have read a hundred posts claiming the Chinese/Aliexpress stuff is not worth it. I really, really didn't want to put together anything like a list of needed screw sizes, but I went through the Honda parts fiche for one of my bikes, picked out a handful of screw...

    Metric socket head cap screws

I'm tired of having to run and buy screws every time I want to replace a rusted out screw. Years ago I had bought an assortment of metric screws from Brafasco (now White Cap?) but now the price for an equivalent assortment is like $185. The assortment I bought had lots of screws I would likely...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Thanks @Mad Mike - that's good - and very specific ! - intel. Do you have experience with these bikes in particular? I just ordered a set of rubber gaskets and o-rings on eBay based on the recommendations of a guy on one of the VF500F FB groups. Maybe should have done some more research as...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Yeah, I think you're thinking of me. I have an 87 F1. I had it running but not road worthy. And I bet I know who bought that bike in the ad. I have pretty much everything the bike in the listing had. What I don't have is - pretty much everything the bike in the listing doesn't have. That...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Decided to focus on one of my project VF500s, instead of working on both of them together. At first planned to work primarily on the first bike I bought as I had already done some stuff like change fluids, etc. Was about to take good starter solenoid from bike #2 and put it on bike #1 - which...

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

LOL. I'm working on it. Or should I say, I'm working on convincing my wife ;) Plan B is to sell a bunch of wood working equipment to make room for a few bikes inside.

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

On my way home with the bike, a guy pulled me over. Turned out he had a V65 Sabre, recognized the Interceptor, and wanted to talk. He said he had exactly the same problem - stuck fuel lock, which he solved by doing as you suggest: bringing the helmet lock to a locksmith. All that would...

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

Don't put it past me! I'm one to go down rabbit holes. Years ago I did order a cheap lock pick set online and downloaded some books on it. I couldn't get the set to work, a girl at work picks locks and she said the set was crap and the "gun" didn't work. So...anybody got a beginner's lock...

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

Today I went to seal up all the holes (coolant line, fuel line, spark plug wells, etc) that the PO had open while he was working on it to prevent critters from getting in. I decided to take a look at the tank. From the outside it's very clean, but as the PO had not been able to open the tank...

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

Thanks, all. I am super excited to have the plastics in the colour ways of my dreams, and in such good condition. Unfortunately, the weather is getting colder so my window of opportunity for wrenching on it – which I have to do outside – is rapidly closing. I don’t know if I’m going to be able...

    I just bought a 1984 Honda V30 Interceptor

Haven't had much time to work on this project except for pulling off random parts and tossing them in the ultrasonic or Evaporust, just to feel like I'm making *some* progress. But... yesterday another VF500F came up on Marketplace. The plastics were in much better condition than mine, and...

Where do you guys go for new tires?

@Amazon - after almost 4 months, I was finally able to take my wheel and tire into Frank at New to You Tire. Called him on a Friday afternoon, he said to come on down, within 5 minutes of getting there I was on my way back home. Highly recommend.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Finally got my Multistrada back on the road after a long adventure with a seized bolt. After all that, actually getting the wheel off was trouble free (though I'm surprised I was able to locate the parts I had removed months ago). Called Frank at New to You Tire in Barrie (somebody here...
