Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

A smaller car leaves more room in the garage for another bike.

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

Anything that ever left the Tanzer, Bayfield, Oday shops come to mind . Oh and Grampian , built down the street from the C&C shop and Ontario Yachts ( the Viking line) . Must have been the end of the street closest to the pub. Some of those I didn't mind even if they were less than svelte. The...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I'm thinking it being used as a second vehicle for shopping and errands. For people renting level 1 saves installation costs. Or make it the prime vehicle and rent ICE for the odd out of town haul where range could be an issue.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Drivers aren't getting better and while stopped at a light between pickups is bad, try being between semis on the highway. $50 a week lease plus insurance. For a city grocery getter, a level 1 charger might even work. Range?

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

I was more amused by my friend's glasses being worth their weight in gold. Life's too short to ride ugly bikes. Paraphrasing one of the yacht design books, If a boat is beautiful enough you'll forgive all its flaws. If it's ugly you'll never stop looking for them.

    Max Burns passed away

A friend's father was a dispatch rider. He still has his great coat.

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

Sometimes I price things per pound just for amusement. A Honda Goldwing costs about the same as a Fireblade. Mid $30k but the blade is half the weight ~450 vs ~850 pounds. A friend dropped by a while back sporting a new pair of designer eye glasses. Light but not cheap they were close to the...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Most hedges are swamp or field cedars because they are cheap. The downside of the swamp cedars is that they grow like a bush and only look like hedges when crowded or trimmed into a hedge shape. Few people do it right and they widen out from a nice three feet to, in my case at least ten feet...

    Search and Rescue

New Zealand has the biggest search and rescue area on the planet, ~30 million square Kms. If that's right it's three times the area of Canada. A sibling flew with them for years doing the electronics and also playing war games with the fleets. Adding to the problem there are thousands of...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I replaced three 4X4s a couple of years ago I rigged up a jack to pull the cracked concrete out o two but the third hadn't cracked. I ground it flat on top, welded up a bracket and bolted in a stubby replacement. Depending on when you plan on doing a complete new fence there are various...

RIP. Is there a new curator or has the change been preemptive?

    Stocks

Digital dashes scare me. If an individual gauge dies, the individual one gets replaced. A molded to the boat dash panel will be expensive and in a few years, obsolete. My coil top stove can be fixed for $50. A friend's stylish one adds a zero.

    Stocks

A couple of decades ago we were sitting on a $300K boat in the showroom. The sales rep was honest. If the people that bought in that class wanted mink cup holders they got them. If the next owner, ten year later, had major problems the manufacturer didn't care. They sold to the first buyer...

    Stocks

I've never loaned money to a friend. I've given money and usually got it back. The amount I have to give is very very small and future gifts to others is based on people giving money back to me and my benefactor fund. One friend broke the cycle by planning to pay me back with his casino...

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

The last I heard was some builders were using prepreg and autoclaves but we're talking aerospace budgets for large hulls. Where do you get a toaster oven big enough to handle a 40 foot long piece of toast? My concern was getting even heat if the cable spacing was too great. Ripple effect where...

    Where to get a puppy?

When my wife was walking our daughter's 10 pound pup she picked her up as a dog walker approached with about five mixed breeds. The walker cautioned my wife that in some cases picking up a dog makes a pack think it's being abducted. Too many cars around us to go off leash. I've let the pup run...

    Cuba...

The feds don't want to send government rescue flights similar to ones where people wanted to visit family in war zones. Empty resorts scare me as much as empty restaurants. Just how long has that piece of chicken been sitting in the refrigerator? Does the refrigerator work or has the service...

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

Inventory is a curse in hard times. If a manufacturer or dealer has a boat in stock and things aren't moving they will have to negotiate unless they have a ton of free cash to keep the business afloat until a comfortable buyer shows up or the economy improves. CRA sees inventory as cash sitting...

    COVID and the housing market

Today's math question: A million dollars pays for a family home just about anywhere in Canada. In the more expensive centres it could be a family sized condo or townhouse. In less expensive locations, a single family house. There's a thousand millions in a billion. The Justin Trudeau...
