    How`s your house pricing doing?..

In the crazy days ours would be 1.5 but now 1.2 to 1.3. Drop that to 1.1 if we had a time limit.

    COVID and the housing market

I knew a guy in Ohio that bought a house where a builder did the same thing, using the free wood on site. Twenty years later he needed a new roof and the roofer found out the hard way the roof deck was solid oak and they couldn't drive nails into it without pre-drilling.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

There are really good paints out there now and every colour of the rainbow. Just do a good prep and use the right stuff and you should be good. Is the fridge crack in a liner or shelf? Silicone doesn't sound right to me. I would look at picking a solvent cement that was compatible with the...

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

We used to tow a 700 pound boat on a 200 pound trailer with a 1600 cc Datsun. It works.

    Newfoundland T'Railway

I picked it off a Google search. So much for people posting videos of convenience. My concern stands as far as the crossing can be rough as other posts confirm. Summer isn't supposed to be as bad.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Will the allotted number of cars be spread across Canada or, to concentrate service, be localized in B.C. or southern Ontario? Will the owners wave to each other?

A trucker friend used to haul on the ferry. It could be nasty.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I'm not sure what front crash tests reveal. If you crash a Mini Cooper into a concrete wall at 60 KPH it goes from 60 to zero in 0.01 seconds. Hit a semi head on with both doing 60 KPH and its 60 KPH to negative 60 KPH in the same time span so like hitting the wall at 120 KPH. Bad drivers...

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

I don't know if it's my imagination but it seemed that there were a lot more boats being towed on the highways on weekends a generation ago. #1 Condos normally don't have storage for boats and more people live in condos. #2 Public storage isn't cheap or secure #3 Storing at home in the GTA...

    Cuba...

My F-I-L worked on wood gasification vehicles in Germany as a POW during WWII. Performance sucked but it saved the good stuff for the Luftwaffe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_gas_generator I don't know what biomass Cuba has, possibly sugar cane waste but that may be consumed as fuel for...

What Are You Paying For Premium Fuel

Years ago people complained about the daily yo-yo prices on gas throughout the day so they stabilized them....at the higher rate.

    New boats $$$$$$$$$$

A friend called the marina where he bought his I/O cottage runabout to get a value for insurance purposes. The marina said they'd give him his money back on his 5 year old boat but a new one would be close to double.

I know a guy with a vintage Toyota he wants to keep forever. When I mentioned things like replacing a cracked plastic dash he said "3D printing". If your pockets are deep enough, metal and plastic bits can be built or rebuilt. I don't know the practicality of rebuilding ECMs, BCMs and other...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Just check the lease terms carefully. Ages ago my brother was offered a lease take over on a nice Pontiac, available because a sales rep was leaving. There was a low mileage cap and here was under 10,000 Kms left on the clock with over a year left to use them. Extra Kms were @ $0.30 / Km. He...

    COVID and the housing market

A bit of a hijack but relates to how the courts see things. Many years ago a trucking company in the USA went bankrupt. The receiver found that the ICC, Interstate commerce commission, set rates and the SHIPPER was obligated to adhere to them. It turned out that the trucking company had been...

    COVID and the housing market

How many will assume the rebate is based on the overall market? If one other builder discounts their price by 10% it tanks the whole market. Getting a mortgage for a Mattamy home at the prebuild price could be difficult. Shoppers Drugs have a seniors day on Thursday with 20% off all regular...

    COVID and the housing market

The calculations for building changes and extras are eye opening. Adding a given sized window could be $5,000.00. The credit for eliminating the same size window could be $500.00 or even a surcharge, a negative credit. Upgrades aren't likely on the price diet plan either.

    Cuba...

I feel sorry for the Cubans suffering under Trump's tirades. Hitler demonized the Jews so his executioners didn't feel remorse for killing them off. Putin is doing it to Ukraine. I don't know when and if at some point the people in the streets will see through Trump's antics and do something...

What Are You Paying For Premium Fuel

I can't recall what Costco premium was but it was IMO significantly higher than regular. The Rodeo Drive station shows $.1219 Regular, $1.449 Premium, a 19% hike. Diesel at mainline stations can be all over the place as well. Octane boosters are available, STP @ Canadian Tire 2 X 155ml for...
