Has anyone else been sick more than normal this winter?

Had a cold at the beginning of February. Nasty one, but just a cold. Most of the symptoms went away after a week but I've had congestion and the constant need to clear my throat since family day. The doctor told me that the cold virus this year is hanging on for longer than usual and symptoms...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Good news! I just got the Christmas present that my brother sent from Belgium on November 20th! Great job as always CP.

    X-Ring Versus O-Ring Chain

I haven't seen any difference between X and O ring chains on my KLR. Just buy a good quality chain from one of the major brands, set the tension properly and ride. I used to lube chains, then I decided to try not lubing after I installed a fresh one. I got about 19,000km on the lubed chains...

    Who's gonna tell him?

3 hours from Toronto to Montreal. That's actually pretty good. Oh, but since I live in Whitby first I have to take a 20 minute bus ride to the GO station then take the GO train from Whitby to Union Station. That adds about 90 minutes, if the bus and the GO are on time. Then when I get to...

    2025 Newfoundland

I went to Nfld on the bike back in 2018. Ferry to St. John's then rode around to Gros Morne (got a cabin for the long route but not the shorter return trip). It was beautiful, but not amazing from a riding point of view. There aren't many smaller through roads. Across the majority of the...

    Certifications starting March 2025....

Pretty sure the accessible washroom thing has absolutely nothing to do with DriveOn. Having an accessible washroom is simply a requirement when running any business in Ontario. Technically, a one man shop run out of a home garage is required to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Does the IIHS test rear impacts on North American cars? I can't find any info on rear impact testing for the Rogue. If I was in the market for a kiddie hauling small SUV, I think I'd cross the Rogue off my list after seeing those pics...

What did you do in your garage today..?

If you're just flushing, use a stick to put pressure on the brake pedal and crack the bleeder. Let some fluid flow out and then tighten the bleeder. Re-fill the reservoir and reset your pedal stick before moving to the next wheel.

    Interesting break down stories?

Dark and stormy night outside Winnipeg on my way out west and I hit a massive puddle that darn near made me crash. The bike (a 1997 Honda Goldwing 1500) started running like crap but I got it to a campground about 30 minutes from the city. I parked and went over to the office to self check-in...

    Perfect bike:-Next best thing???

No manufacturer is making the bike that you want. You have to make your own. Just get a KLR (or similar) and mod the heck out of it to make it what you want. Touring: hard luggage + windscreen + seat cushion = all day comfort. ADV and mild off road: soft bags + smaller windscreen + knobbies...

    Canada Post - Huge losses

Every year I send a Christmas parcel to my brother at NATO HQ in Belgium using the Canadian Forces PO system. The Forces ship for free from CFB Trenton, so the only cost is getting the parcel from here to the CP-CF handoff point in Belleville. I've always used CP to ship the parcel to...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Those 2 idiots basically shut down traffic in Durham Region on Tuesday and caused tens of thousands of dollars in damages. It took me over an hour to cover 5km from Lakeridge to Brock St. I witnessed 3 minor rear end collisions near me as we were all creeping along and at one point Google maps...

What are conditions on Southwood 13 , 26 (Frank Miller), 7 thru Port Sandfield to 632 to Rosseau

Even the best track day riders will be forced to veer into oncoming traffic if there's a pile of gravel or a branch on the road around one of those tight corners. I almost got up close and personal with a crotch rocket last week when he came around a corner on Southwood doing way over the...

    Itchy Boots goes Vintage

It's a nice enough bike but it could be so much better if some of the parts were from this millennium. The guy building the bike is too obsessed with vintage "quality". Just because it's old and simple doesn't always mean it's more functional or reliable. A 40+ year old Ohlins shock? Sure...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I just spent 5 minutes looking into Jon Nesbett, the "independent journalist" who filmed a follow up interview with the creepy water gun neighbor. Jeez, I feel filthy. He seems to spend most of his time re-posting anti-vax, anti-government, anti-woke and close to white supremacist Reddit...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

$86? You're paying a tonne of money for your "system", which is basically a rope and a couple of pulleys. I made a similar rig to store my kayak from Home Depot pulleys, rope and a hand winch off a boat trailer. Total cost maybe $20. It was no more work to install than that system would be...

Who's camped on the James Bay Road?

Just go on longer trips. After 3-4 crappy nights sleep you'll be so tired that you'll conk out the second your head hits the rolled up bundle of clothes that you're using for a pillow.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I've had good luck with Sport Rack racks over the years. Not nearly as fancy as Thule and lacking some advanced features, but they get the job done for half the price. As for hitches at Uhaul, they're probably fine. Depending on your car, installing a hitch can be incredibly easy. I just put...

    Auto-renewing plates question

Shockingly, I got a reply from Service Ontario. Here's the relevant portion of the email: So, just like the plate stickers, everyone has been automatically informed of the change and there will be absolutely no problems with law enforcement from jurisdictions outside of Ontario. 🤨...
