Le Mista in Beloeil is fanstastic. Warm cheese croutons in salad were a surprise but delicious. I haven't been in a decade but I still try to replicate their Mafalda (pasta with garlic, almonds, shrimp and fresh herbs). I'm heading to eastern townships in a few months. I may have to hit there on...

Post up your liquor/spirit talk ?

Interesting idea. Shipping would be a killer for most of us. @Lightcycle could figure out something interesting to do. $200 for a used wooden barrel, pickup in Vernon. Could you heat and condense to get the trapped product out? Make spurtles/spoons that smell fantastic (for a while)...

I try and avoid Toronto. That is very close to my wifes old apartment. I can't remember what was there when she was there but I was investing every dollar so no money for fancy food then. If I have a job in the area, I'll keep it in mind as work can pay.

Prime rib at the Keg was way tougher than it should have been. Now, I am comparing it to the last few times I made it where I cooked it for over 24 hours. I like delicious food. My wife considered taking me a Michelin restaurant for my bday. Food+wine would have been the wrong side of $600 for...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Short answer is no. Insulation needs thickness to be very effective. Underlayment may have a small effect but it is <1/8" thick. Lift the subfloor or drop the ceiling in the garage and insulate the joists. In that application, I would spring for sprayfoam.

I like to support local establishments. The bill has noticeably grown recently. Other than gtam dinner, I have mostly moved on from places like the keg. Middling food at premium prices. Kids like fast food. Blah. I try to discourage it as much as possible. Expensive and marginal at best.

The 0.0 marketing is interesting but weird. The argument is if you price it low, people will think it's inferior. They start the pricing at booze pricing and sometimes go up to get to "premium". Since a huge percentage of booze pricing is tax, the profit margin on 0.0 must be ridiculous.

I have some carpeted speakers that were once in a bar. The smell does come out after decades.

A hammer, big adjustable wrench and a welder (or scrap piece of metal and self-tapping screws) and it will survive.

Fwiw, my mom is very happy with your old one. She also cuts a path to the backyard to fill the bird feeders.

Memories of Dover. Pirates everywhere. Not many bikes to be seen.

    Leather vest - do’s and dont’s ???

Not my thing at all but I've seen lots of vests around. Huge faux-pas would be to use patches that could be confused for biker gangs. SOA would be fine (although probably copyright infringement). There are many cruiser clubs that wear patched vests with their club name and rank. As for...

GTAM Holiday Dinner - Sat, Jan 10th, 2026 (post moto show)

Throw a boat bbq on where the top box normally mounts. Crankcall probably has some.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Barf. One of the few car brands I wouldn't own. Tbh, I'm surprised they are still here. I expect them to follow the path of Daewoo and others and give up on north america. If that happens, the resale value drops to almost zero. Are the cheap Fiskar Oceans still available? Right size for you...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Especially when you know the one you are looking to switch to is depreciating so much more quickly. She wants more room than the EUV or the normal bolt?

    Bicycle carrier

Those are for cages, none will work on a bike (when you get to the first corner, the bicycle will hit and either break or toss you in the ditch). Bicycle needs to be inline with motorcycle not perpendicular as with a cage.

    Bicycle carrier

I think the vertical is better than the horizontal. Reduces the lever arm of the effective sail. A friend was considering a similar solution. Afaik, he didn't proceed but I'm not sure what killed the idea for him. Depending on how bad a mood the officer is in, most of these racks may run afoul...
