Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

In the British system an up and comer is expected to make ALL of their mistakes on the way up. Once in a responsible position mistakes are deadly sins. Therefore mistakes are redirected, flushed or buried by management. 1) Who hired Chris Prout? Someone in HR 2) Who hired the person in HR...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

We grew up tight on cash so if the sofa needed replacing it was replaced with one that matched the still usable carpet. A few years later the drapes were replaced to match the recently replaced sofa. A few years later the carpet was replaced with the same colour because it matched the sofa and...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

LSVs appeal to the illiterate. Approved in Ontario but they don't read "Must also be approved by municipalities." I've seen a couple in Mississauga where they are not approved.

If it's oil paint you can put the brushes in a plastic bag along with a damp rag and the brush will be fine the next day. The high humidity keeps the paint from drying. You can also put paint gear in the freezer if you don't mind a bit of Varsol odour in your food.

Is counterfeit money ok to use now?

A friend with a shop in Brampton had a guy come in asking him if he wanted to buy counterfeit bills. He looked at them and said they looked good but passed on principle. Someone else in the mall bought some. Counterfeit money is as indiscriminate as a land mine. The person getting cheated...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

How much is insurance, parking, financing etc? If the fixed costs are too high and the mileage driven too low an EV doesn't offset ICE fuel ups. I could be tempted by an EV as a second vehicle but if it had a sub 100 km range it wouldn't get used enough to justify the thousands per year in...

Jurisdiction can be an issue if navigable waters are federal but cover municipal areas. The province also has a presence on the waters.

I once designed a heater for a massive tank that was going to be used to bleach dark meat white. I can't recall the name of the comedian that commented he wasn't going to eat chicken nuggets until they told him what part of the chicken was the nugget.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Legalities are a moot point when you're dealing with armed psychopaths supported by an orangutan with an endless supply of presidential orders. Motorcyclist: "I have the right of way" Car driver: "I have a bad attitude and a two ton 1970 Buick with massive bumpers."

It'll get fixed when the union, not the taxpayer, has to pay the suspension wages for a decade.

Some cities are up in arms over barely floating moored barges being used as residential accommodation. When they get really bad the inhabitants move to another POS, abandoning the navigation hazard as someone else's problem. BTW , if someone needs 911 assistance it's a bigger problem for...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I knew an alcoholic and job stress was his Achilles heel. When he got promoted into management he fell apart. Everyone's brain is wired differently and it may be necessary to triage the situation. Some cops can handle the situations, some need help to handle the situations and some need a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

It used to happen when I lived in Manitoba. Kids would build into the windrows along the road and if a grader came around it would cave the thing in. Occasionally we'd see men probing the banks with long sticks. :(

A lot of the comments are supportive to the cop. It can be a S*** job. If the DUI is due to job stress alcoholism, the superiors need to address the problem in a long term constructive manner. Unfortunately a lot of the senior staff are hard a** types preaching "If I could handle it so can...

I prefer watching a bunch of kids having fun at the park over a bunch of millionaires having hissy fits. Since the teams are both local there's no preferences, any good play get appreciated.
