    Is this accurate?

I'm too European for this ... There should be a "40 area" sign on every entrance to the area and there should be a cancellation, our version would be "end 40 area", in the opposite direction, i.e. every exit. A sign indicating a different speed limit cancels the "area". "Ends" means the...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Maybe Blazer or one of the Cadillacs to have more-or-less the same but different? I see quite a few Cadillac Lyriqs out there. The Bolt got some stuff fixed. 104 000 km. Left front wheel bearing and left front stabiliser end-link have both been making noise for a while; replaced those today...

Charging lead acid batteries in the house?

... and put it in an open floor area away from flammable or expensive stuff in the extremely unlikely event that the case splits and dumps sulfuric acid everywhere. If you have a security system in the house, the control box probably contains a sealed lead acid battery, that's how it keeps...

    its here....

I'm not sure about the "controlled" bit.

    its here....

Supposedly an on-board air compressor, though in reality, probably hot air.

    its here....

Someone pointed out that as soon as something leaves the ground and performs intentionally controlled flight, it's subject to FAA rules. Pointless.

    Best airbags of 2024

I have seen airbag vests worn overtop of leathers. Are any of the airbag vests homologated for that usage? I know of airbag systems that are designed to be worn under (inside) the leathers. The leathers need to fit loosely enough for the airbag to expand inside. Personally I'd rather stay with...

Site performance is quite poor today

What's broken? I've not seen any issues lately. (don't forget to include what hardware, what operating system, what browser ... it can make a difference, what isn't broken for me might be broken for someone else)

latest on the new Safety Cert Drive On program...

No picture, so questions. Is the license plate illuminated (white)? Are the rear turn signals separate (not combined with tail/brake), more than 220mm/9" apart, and operate as they should? Tail and brake lamps operate as they should? No dark tinted lenses? License plate is AT the rear and...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Hah. 120-ish litres at current diesel prices would do that. Meanwhile ... This past weekend I drove the Bolt to Shannonville and back for their 50th-anniversary celebration (which was a good event). Started out at 95% because I know I no longer have to charge to 100% for such trips, there's...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

For someone who drives so little, it makes little sense to trade in, until your current vehicle becomes unserviceable and you have no choice. At that point, buy used.

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

Not that simple. I am pretty sure the footpeg brackets are operating as designed, which means there's no point replacing them. Any news on why your throttle blades aren't fully returning to idle position? Has to be a mechanical obstruction.

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

Shut isn't shut all the way. In the rest (idling) position, the gap between the throttle and the inside of the throttle body should be next to nothing, and it's way too much. See 38 - 45ish and 58 seconds into the video. The next challenge is to find out why the throttles aren't closing all the...

    Stocks

The banks all have attached brokerage divisions. Mine is with TD, and I'm happy with the way theirs works. First place to ask is where you usually bank ... ask to set up a brokerage account there, and see how you like it. The advantage of doing it this way, is that it should interface as...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Hmm that's a good idea. The 62TE in my van is at 120 000 km on its supposedly lifetime fill. No dipstick, no drain plug. I should see how much I can suck out from the top.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

CHAdeMO is not physical-adapter-compatible with either CCS or NACS (which uses CCS communication protocol). Owners of vehicles with CHAdeMO are plugging in at home, and using existing fast-charging stations that have that connector, just like they've always done, and that's what they'll have to...
