I just checked, you're right. The 1100 and 950 are almost exactly the same weight.

Wow! I've been to Pikes Peak before. That's a perfect Hypermotard road!

Never got to ride the 1100 but by all accounts, it was quite a beast. Think @Wingboy had an 1100? F00k, a Hyper V4 would be awesome!

I think I can manage that! BTW, we have a track nearby as well. Pic included so we don't stray too far away from the topic:

I think it's a city vs rural thing. In Toronto, too many anonymous people that the dealers don't know coming in. In this small town, all the dealers here know their customers intimately. They know their finances, their riding skill, etc. They know who they can trust to take their bikes out...

    Hypermotard V2

We had a huge dirtbike/ADV demo day at a local MX track a couple of years ago. Every manufacturer was represented by a local dealership, I think there were 15-20 dealers present with brand new bikes. Entrance fee was $20 and you could take out any bike on the track. I took a 125cc 2-smoke with...

    Hypermotard V2

LOL. Reminds me of the time I was explicitly told not to take the dealer's demo bikes off-road, or my demo privileges would be suspended... I had to ride their DesertX back to my house to give it a good wash before I returned it... :ROFLMAO:

I normally turn off all the "assists", not sure about how the 698 system works. One thing I do know is that even with Wheelie Control completely off, the 950 Hyper will not allow clutch-up wheelies. Only power wheelies. If you try to use the clutch, it'll limit the engine so you can't rev it up...

Biggest issue confirmed by Toyota themselves is with the 8-speed transmission, problems from delayed shifting to outright failures. Check engine lights, front differential, various noises coming from the chassis/doors, etc. I chalk it up to first MY teething problems. If I recall, the first...

I'm awesome at 12 o'clock wheelies. This awesomeness extends to 1 o'clock wheelies. And the party keeps on going till 3 o'clock... at which point I don't think you can call them wheelies anymore if neither wheel is touching the ground...

So dumb. If it's a homologation special, then yeah, put wings on it. But if downforce is only significant above 300 km/h, then those outboard serving trays are just asking for someone to brush by the bike and break them off. Seriously dumb.

I keep spouting off about it, but I do lots of research about bikes before I buy. The DesertX is top-heavy. I read about it. I test-rode one. Twice. Felt the top-heaviness myself. Still bought it. I've got about 25K on it this season. My verdict is: The bike is top-heavy... :ROFLMAO...

    Hypermotard V2

As a Hyper950 owner, I like it. Retains the Hypermotard flavour. Great numbers to back it up as well. Almost 30 lbs lighter than the 950. Holy frack, that's a game changer! I never minded the weight of my bike, but less weight on a hooligan bike is always welcome. Pleasantly surprised they...
