Anyone do the laser eye thing?

About five years ago,my wife and two step children (mid twenties) all got their eyes done at The Hertzig institute near Bay and Bloor. We were in and out in about an hour. Her son and daughter got perfect results. The procedure my wife got was one eye for close, one for distance and let your...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I just read the fine print about fine threads being stronger, apparently not so in soft metals like aluminum but i still think Heli coils are stronger in aluminum than just threading into aluminum. I did a lot of work years ago in a metal fabrication plant that made a lot of parts for the...

What did you do in your garage today..?

I think fine threads actually have more pullout strength than coarse threads. Fixing it properly with a Heli coil will also make it stronger than just threading into aluminum but yeah, that sucks.

Yes, I get all that but try explaining that to an 18 year old kid on the verge of hypothermia.

    Donating to charities

I was at the Scarborough Town Centre just before Christmas with a buddy in the very early’80s. I went to drop $50 into The Salvation Army bucket. My buddy said he would never give them a nickel. He told me that when he was about 18 he went to Yellowknife for a job. For whatever reason it didn’t...

What Are You Currently Listening To?

Yes, one way of looking at it. The cool thing about it is that they are all covers, some of the musicians in the band , the best in the business, also played on the originals

What Are You Currently Listening To?

Some may dismiss this as a novelty record but the band is first rate. It’s actually quite good. Guitar legend Steve Cropper played on this, he passed away yesterday.

Why Is Motorcycle Oil So Expensive?

I don’t think you can beat a Honda when it comes to small engines. I wouldn’t even consider buying a utility generator or snowblower that wasn’t made by Honda. I’ve got a 15 year old eu2200i inverter generator that has run for days on end with the original spark plug up until last year. I have...

If your using gas less flux core I’m pretty sure the gun has to be plugged into the negative terminal and the ground clamp into the positive. If your MiG welding with gas the gun is positive and ground clamp is negative.

    Kisselgoff Motorcycle Museum, Thunder Bay

The bikes on display are constantly changing. There’s 3 guys in a beautiful shop in the basement who’s full time job is restoring bikes so the collection is constantly changing. Believe me, it’s nothing like a Timmy’s bike night. These bikes are absolutely pristine, they look like they just came...

    Kisselgoff Motorcycle Museum, Thunder Bay

This may be a little out of the way but definitely worth it. The Barber Motorcycle Museum in Alabama is mind numbing. Been there twice and can’t wait to go again, it’s that good. That and The Wright Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio are by far the two best museums I’ve ever been to. Expedia

I had a yellow ‘99 VFR and a red 2001. Best all around bikes I’ve ever owned. Wish I had kept the yellow one. Both the VFR and ST1300 gave off a lot of heat around your knees and inner thigh. I liked the VFR far more than the ST.

I think the ST1100 was actually a better bike than the ST1300 that replaced it. Lots of nice ones around if you look hard, they would make a nice daily driver.
