    Pickup Trucks

Tire poke without extending fenders is clearly illegal. Lifting/lowering is a harder ticket. I'd be ok with modifications that move bumper height outside of a set range to work the same as dui. Insurance doesn't pay as you did it to yourself.

They're pretty quick but no viper. I got to ride shotgun in one through an autocross course. Really had to be light on the throttle when turning to avoid vaporizing the rears.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I would not give up valuable tool box space to batteries (not to mention, if one boils and pukes acid, it running into the drawers would be a disaster). I don't bother pulling most batteries. If I do pull them, they get stored on a shelf.

He should have bought one of these. 500hp V10. You can get them for less than the price of an average new vehicle with mileage ~50K. Kids can ride in the bed with the dog.

Yolo. That HELOC life. Or lease it through a business. Vehicle prices are insane.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Still should be major consequences. They had one job. They are highly paid to do it. If they can't do it (because of corruption or incompetence) they need to be canned.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

That's a bigger problem. If the cops being paid well over 100K can't take a sample without violating charter rights, there needs to be a wholesale house cleaning starting with everyone that trained them and those in power that didn't fire them for inability to do the job they were hired for.

Doug has made insurance worse, again

I'm almost certain that on renewal, the total owed will be very close to now but the AB will be removed. They will argue that costs increased in all other categories and I should feel thankful that I didn't get a 20% increase.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

He crashed, was arrested and taken back to the station where he blew way over. Defense in court argued breath samples were an illegal search and won. It sounds like a straight forward dui. I would be shocked if it was accidental.

What did you do in your garage today..?

I just spin in with the gun on low to the first hit. That's 80-90 ft-lbs. Finish with the torque wrench. It's fast.

What did you do in your garage today..?

Interesting. I guess it makes sense, parking pawl stops the shaft but open diff lets things rotate anyway. I just spin the nuts in with the gun while in the air and then drop the car and torque on the ground.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Another dui cop escapes criminal consequences due to charter violations by his fellow officers. That crap should put the other officers in front of the disciplinary board to explain whether they are corrupt or just incompetent...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

On that line, if you buy a bike from a general retailer (like Canadian Tire), most have you sign something that says you will take it to a bike shop to get inspected before you ride it (at your cost). Their minimum wage staff put it together but don't have the knowledge, skill or time to do it...

Doug has made insurance worse, again

So if 24% of the costs are now in optional programs, I expect my rate to drop by ~24%. I'd be ok with that. I'll be shocked if rates drop more than a few percent.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

My wife complains as there is one street in Barrie with speed humps and I put my tires through a gap and run hers over the hump. That works fine at the speed limit. I might be able to straddle the hump but I'm not convinced my car would clear and plastic oil pan means things would get expensive...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

I'd be happy if politicians stayed the f out of speed limits. Set them at 85th percentile speed, enforce for people exceeding that by a reasonable margin, enforce where it makes sense for safety instead of where it is most profitable.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Chowder for brains now wants dougie to cover all the lost revenue from cameras. I thought this was about safety? She didn't even wait for the deadline before dropping the farce and going to the core of her issue. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2025/11/13/ontario-non-speed-camera-road-safety-measures/

    Pickup Trucks

When I did it before, park truck in front of something. Use a ratchet strap or rope around a tree or similar object (make sure attachment point isn't really low as you don't want to pull down on tailgate). Other end of strap/rope attached to skid. Drive forward a few feet so skid is in correct...
