You can get more reach by turning you hand sideways, so your palm is almost perpendicular to the fretboard. Or you can skip a string and mute the middle string with your top finger.

I think the same thing happened to agave's rider - probably thought he wasn't gonna make the turn and tried to slow down. To me he looked real uncomfortable on the bike to begin with.

you have a much higher chance of being seen when you are moving with respect to what the drivers are seeing. I.e. moving towards them you may be invisible, but moving sideways or weaving will be more likely to grab their attention.

What about checkpoints with an obstacle course that must be completed within a given time with minimum of errors? Then we can screen for incompetency regardless of cause. Doesn't need to be overly sophisticated... Even a parallel parking exercise should be good enough really.

I think people with dirt riding experience are interpreting this bailing situation differently than others. In the dirt there are times where you will bail to avoid a tree or going into the bushes and it saves your ***. Your body will just do it...
