Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

The DL650 (and all its variants) are proven over many years of use. Sadly, it seems Suzuki Canada as of late to have cut way back on it's domestic parts inventory. Wait for special rush orders from Japan - usually 2 to 3 weeks. The Himi puts out around 40hp - the same as my old KLR650, a DR650...

Doug has made insurance worse, again

Before Covid, I was looking at a used truck. The no-name dealer lowballed on the price then wanted $650 for the safety, I said pardon ??? Guess what, I walked.

    EICMA 2025

The big takeaway for me from everything about EICMA I've been reading is the rise of the Chinese and Indian manufacturers. They're coming (or already here) whether you like it or not. CFMoto, Royal Enfield and others are making their marks. If they can build a proper dealer network and...

    Donating to charities

When it's the Royal Canadian Legion or Salvation Army standing outside the stores -often in the cold - they get my support. I'm pretty comfortable that a donation will be used for maximum benefit.

Bingo. It's just a motorcycle - a thing. If you don't like it or it doesn't work out just get something else.

    Donating to charities

Not charity related directly but... One of the things that was encouraged at Halloween was to get the kiddies to go visit the local seniors homes (3 in my 'hood). There were treats in the lobby and the residents were ecstatic to have the tiny costumed visitors. A small thing but it made a...

    Donating to charities

I suppose timing isn't important but as the Christmas season draws near maybe we should all think about helping out those who are less fortunate. There are hundreds of worthwhile charities, and over the years I've tried to research (and contribute) to the ones where the money goes to maximum...

Thinking of trading my V-Strom 650XT for the new Himalayan 450 – need your thoughts!

I just finished putting on my IED bomb suit so here goes. With virtually ALL the larger displacement ADV bikes weight is irrelevant (there I said it). Why ? By the time the Starbucks Angels finish installing the hard saddlebags, top boxes, bash bars, skid plates, centre stand kits, driving...

    November 11th

I would posit that there are a lot more people suffering from things like mental illness, spousal, sexual abuses and other mitigating social factors than any direct governmental influenced ones. What they called shell shock in WW1 and WW2 we call PTSD now - police, fire and EMTs are prime...
