Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Putting it behind a sound deadening wall will deflect most sound away from where you can hear it now. That's probably the easiest and cheapest way. A friend of mine has an enormous fancy pool pump/purifier system behind a wall like this and in the pool it's fine with hardly any noise, behind...

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

That gun above has barrel weights too I think.

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

I got upset when a brass mid bead fell off my Beretta. That was a .25c part plus about 0.0001c worth of thread lock.

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

This just arrived in my mailbox (email) https://www.rangeviewsports.ca/product/beretta-dt11-black-dlc-pro-sporting-shotgun-with-adjustable-tsk-stock/ 23k $. But, only in 30”.

Need suggestions for a high-end laptop

So one more tip specifically for things like Lenovo. If you have any university/college nearby there's a chance that they have a preferred computer supplier with a contact. When I contact our Lenovo guy he can get me any machine at a substantial discount to what's advertised. Depending on how...

Need suggestions for a high-end laptop

I'm still trying to figure out simple image manipulation in terms of just opening some photos to edit. On a windows machine I find the damn file and open it. On a Mac it's like “I'm sorry Dave I can't let you do that” (Space Odyssey reference, I'm not a Dave). It has to be opened from the...

Need suggestions for a high-end laptop

I get a Lenovo thinkpad whenever I need a windows machine. I have a Lenovo X1 thing right now. That's more for portability and it’s way overpowered for what I normally use it for but it's the company product line that's impressive and the build quality of the upper tier machines. For what you...

Can't access site from home Internet connection

Sorry I see what you mean. I had my details saved so that when I go to the site I'm logged in with my credentials. I didn't sign out then in again. I tried clearing my cache but that didn’t work either.

Can't access site from home Internet connection

I know it doesn't make sense but it's the only thing that worked. Maybe my old username works fine now but I can't be bothered to switch back and forward to check. Before the site just didn’t load properly for my old login. There's some weird filter somewhere that is catching random people it...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

The Amateur with Rami Malek was pretty good. He's a great actor and the story isn't too bad for a reasonably standard revenge plot.

Who is this guy? Sikorsky S-76C C-FBLU

They are using more unmanned drones for this now apparently.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Had it done when we had eavestroughs replaced so not sure of the brand. Definitely recommend it though. We have a pine tree right next to one roof and before this they would clog all the time. I saw some in Costco a while back that looked identical and also quite cheap.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I see pine needles. Ours would clog every year and then we had the protectors put on. Haven’t needed to clean them for a few seasons now.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I didn't even know that was an option. I'll take a look. The issue is the garage is storage, no room to swing a cat so it's not used as a workshop often.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

So, the next project after this then is probably that mini-split. It's either that or heated floors in that bedroom but that doesn't help with cooling in the summer of course. Price wise I was quite surprised that a small unit wasn't too pricey. A 9000 BTU combined ac and heat pump unit is...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

The AC system does a very good job of removing humidity in the main house in the winter and in the winter any external air in the ceiling gap is going to have low humidity anyway so there's nothing to condense in that ceiling gap. The room under the flat roof has ceiling fans etc in too which...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Thanks. Have to have an asbestos test carried out apparently. $200. Not worried about that. This roof has been replaced 3 times and the ceiling done about the same. I know what's up there and none of it is from the 60s anymore. My word won't count for any safety issues though. The only...

Code of Silence is pretty good. About a lip reader working for the police trying to bust a gang of jewellery thieves.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

This is on sale at Fortnine for a few bucks. Neat solution to inverting the bike for service. https://hiplok.com/product/hiplok-flipstand/ Edit: It was on for $21 so I'll get one to keep in the car and if it's small enough it can go in a pannier. Doubles as a tool roll too.
