So it's that time again....winter pasttimes?

There've been 3-4 iterations at least of the main sub 250 g DJI drone over the years. Most of the advances have been camera quality, battery life and long distance connection. I have one of the earlier ones and it works fine but people with upgradeitis should be unloading their older ones for...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I probably wouldn’t if I had friction fit pumps. I have thread ons. Changing the valves lets me use either with an adapter and was cheaper than just buying a new floor pump.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I still have to fit them but I'm replacing the Presta valves in all 3 bikes as they don't play nice with my floor pump or hand pump. The Clik Valves seem to solve the issues in a neat way and have the benefit that they don’t clog as easily with tubeless sealant (I have that in two bikes and...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Another quick update. For the clik valves one of the drawbacks is some pressure gauges don't work with them. The Fumpa keyring gauge does and it's pretty well reviewed, is accurate and can be used with shrader valves on motorbikes too as well as normal Presta valves. Looks like Canadian...

    Steps towards a simpler life

I went through the beginners skating all the way through ice hockey lessons along with a bunch of enthusiastic immigrants. Canada is way more integrated than most make out.

Don't be ridiculous. Everybody knows that to be understood anywhere in the world you just need to shout the words louder and louder in the language Jesus used. English.

    Steps towards a simpler life

That's pretty deep. I may need some class A assistance. I think I get what you're saying. Assimilation isn't a monolithic thing with a defined set of “milestones”.

I find this stuff really interesting. How do you assimilate successfully? Coming from Europe to Canada wasn’t a huge deal. Just getting used to weird things like milk in bags, frozen orange juice and terrible French accents. :)

There's probably a decent middle ground. Part of that might be getting involved in the local community somehow. Giving back in some way.

I get that. I think it's worse when you travel to a foreign country, often with language barriers and different cultures though. Mind you, as a Brit I'm painfully aware that historically that's kind of been our schtick only a tad more violently in most cases.

    Steps towards a simpler life

Years ago I lived in a property that backed onto a very expensive home. The homeowner wanted a swimming pool so we had to put up with them blasting holes in the limestone for weeks on end. Finally he got what he wanted except for one small thing he hadn't considered. All the neighbours...

    Steps towards a simpler life

At least he tried though. The other kind of expat I see are the worst kind. The ones that don't even try. They try to mould where they live into a mini (or maxi) version of what they have back home. They build gates around groups of houses to keep the riff raff (locals) out except for the...

Recent movies you saw - recommend or no

Thursday Murder Club on Netflix. The cast is Ben Kingsley, Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and more. Should be amazing with that cast right? Wrong. It's utter shite. Netflix do better.

    IOM Manx Grand Prix

Even without the races the Isle of Man is worth visiting. The oldest parliament in the world (Tynewold), the only spot in the UK to see England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales (Snaefell). Wonderful seafood (Manx kippers). The largest working water wheel in the world (Laxey wheel), tailless Manx...

    Soccer/football thread 2022

Leoni reminds me of Paulo Maldini. I hope that's who he grows into. You also forgot the 16 year old wonderkid that won the game against Newcastle. If Liverpool can mould a team from these individuals they will be unstoppable. Exciting indeed.
