    Anyone here a cyclist?

First big mountain bike ride on my e-bike today. Getting up hills with assistance is awesome but there's still work to do. My shoulders and arms ache right now, but it's a good ache. My body armour is soaked so I need to find out how to wash them properly. Two pedal strikes and a chain ring/...

Sporting life has some sale bikes. All different budgets but some limited sizes.

Hmm. Just to make things a little more complex these would be shares from a British company listed in GBP. Currently running at over $3k CDN per share once converted.

Fred Flintstone stuff is a lot simpler. I had to read up on different lever attachment types last night. Silly me thought they were all the same, a band clamp type thing that's tightened.

If a family member works for a company that gives out preferentially priced shares can that family member sign over some of those shares to someone else? I'd like to give my brother some cash in exchange for shares in the company he works for at the discounted rate.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Fun question. E-mountain bikes are a little different when it comes to shifting. The motors can intentionally apply a load for a short time after peddling (overdrive) which can make shifting a little different to a non motorized bike. In addition the extra torque from the motor can damage...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

I went through this relatively recently and then went down a rabbit hole. I also haven’t cycled in forever but getting back into it is a lot of fun. For my commuter bike I got a mail order Decathlon gravel bike and then took it to a local bike guy to make sure it was set up ok. If I do it...

Thanks for that. I did an experiment with fractional shares for Costco a while back (over 1k a share at the time) and they seemed to get filled quite quickly but perhaps that was because it was a very active stock? I'm not a baller or Rockefeller so my trades are reasonably low $amounts. I...

What's the downside of fractional shares? My brokerage has a commission free fractional share purchase option. My suspicious nature says there must be a downside somewhere but all I can see is that I can't set a bid price for these I have to buy at market value. What's to stop me buying 10.1...

I don't have them for the dividends but as a practically worry free/no-need-to manage investment. Setting it up as DRIP just means there's one less thing to look at for me over the long term and I don't want to touch that cash for a long long time anyway. The one investment I got specifically...

We have a friend of a friend type who is a financial advisor that recommended S&P500 type ETFs like VFV for “set it and forget it” investments. My wife has that and I have TPU which is similar. They are both historically very steady over the long term, just make sure you have a DRIP set up for...

The clikvalves arrived. They were shipped from the UK and it took forever. They look great and there's a very positive “click” when they engage. I got three kits with adapters for pumps. I'll get to installing them in a bit. Seems straightforward. Take out presta cores, replace with clik...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

You could use S Burns suggestion and put these inside…bonus, you can use it as a mini podcast studio when the generator isn’t inside. https://www.amazon.ca/Foneso-Acoustic-Insulation-Recording-Playrooms/dp/B0BW3Z28XN

Not according to this. Again though, polystyrene comes in a multitude of different types. The blurb says “styrofoam type” material so who knows. 4. Water-Resistant Acoustic Panels for Outdoors For busy spaces like pools and restaurant patios, outdoor sound-deadening panels are the best option...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Styrofoam is in one of the links as a sound absorber but it's probably just going to degrade outside. The guy in the video may have used a dense styrofoam board (not the fluffy fragile stuff) though I don't know, I didn’t watch all of it. Maybe he covered it too.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

The reason I know a bit about this is the neighbours on either side have caused issues with industrial noise. One was a crappy AC unit too close to our house and the other one is a hot tub that doesn't seem to be working right close to the fence line. I've looked into acoustic panels to put...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I think the styrofoam in the first video is just styrofoam insulation panels but you should probably read about what kind of density is best because you can get very dense styrofoam that would be a specialty product and that might work best for noise deadening. Those other panels/blankets look...

Breathing shouldn't be an issue. The wall would be like one of those walls that are put between busy highways and houses so it doesn't have to be right on top of the generator. You just want to reflect or deaden sound from it. It needs to be tall enough to prevent noise leaking over the top...
