Need suggestions for a high-end laptop

You could say the same about trying to make Linux work like Windows. And then there's Microsoft trying to make Windows 11 work like MacOS, or at least look like it becaue it will never actually work like it.

No offense at all. I'm not actually a Mac person myself and have mever owned one, I just appreciate their value (at least the lastest non-Intel ones). LOL, being a Unix guy is even more reason to appreciate MacOS. It's more Unix (BSD) than Linux.

I took your requirement literally: Have you watched the video I posted? Performance comparison at 17:51 should help you decide. If the objective comparison doesn't convince you, then yes, you would be making a religious decision. But again, this recommendation was based on your original...

    Cannot access GTAM on Android

Keep track of your IP address when it's working and when it's not to see if there's a pattern. Of course, without VPN enabled.

There are two ways to run Windows apps on a Mac - WINE and an actual Windows VM. WINE would be seamless but compatibility needs to be validated. For the Windows VM, I'm not sure if you actually need to open the Windows VM then launch the app(s), or if OS-X has a way to seamlessly launch them...

Regulator pooched and maybe the battery too

How easy is it to check the acid level? Overcharging typically boils it off so it might just need a top-up and then recharge.

I do like my company-provided Thinkpads, but only because it has a TrackPoint. Seems to be less common with other brands, and I can't stand TrackPads.

Need suggestions for a high-end laptop

As far as I understand, the only way to run Windows apps "natively" on Linux is to use WINE which is just an API translator and not 100% compatible. The alternative for 100% compatibility is to run a Windows VM within Linux, which includes all the bloat you're looking to avoid. If I were...

Same way they would normally do it? This is a pciture of the new tablet taking a photo of the calipers used to measure rotor thickness on a car. Use the other side to measure the pad thickness between the pad and the rotor. On a bike you don't even have to remove the wheel.

Do you have software that won't run on OS-X, or are there other reasons for avoiding Mac? Personally I'm an Intel guy, but that's because I don't need mobility or care about performance, so I get away with $300 desktop hardware. As I understand, a Macbook should be ideal for your use case. This...

Don't they need to have an actual certified tech do the safety and not juust an apprentice? On top of that, don't they also have to be licensed for bikes? In any case, I'd be erring on the safe side with a car shop the first time and asking if they need to remove anything for the inspection...

Yup, one of my 998's velocity stacks has a broken tab on it from a Ducati master mechanic prying it off instead of twisting. The guy's generally pretty good, but my jaw hit the ground the last time I removed the tank to figure out why my fuel economy dropped from 48 MPG to only 37, stranding me...

    Chain lubricant

I've been using Dupont Teflon spray in its various forms over the decades. Some say it's not as good as it used to be, but I've always used it as more of a cleaner and protectant than a lube. I only clean my chain with a cloth, no brushes, and the dirtiest they are is when they're new and coated...

Princess Auto 1000 lb motorcycle lift on sale $600

If you have a stable front wheel chock, then I'd be comfortable using a generic non-spooled rear swingarm stand after the front is secured. I may even have an old Hindle in my basement you can borrow, but will have to check in case I already lent it out to someone else and forgot.
