    COVID and the housing market

Probably minimal income so it couldn't support the loan if she maxed it. I have a re-advanceable mortgage. Mortgage plus HELOC adds to a specific number. As mortgage gets paid, room on HELOC goes up. The max of the combined value is less than 40% of the value of the house. Earlier this year...

They have exclusivity agreements with venues so all event tickets must go through them. Some big names have cancelled events in Ontario when they could not prevent their customers from being gouged. Banning those agreements would be simple. Writing laws that encourage competition is much harder.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Yet another reason we shouldn't be writing cheques up front. Politicians use the promised jobs to sell the cash burn. Do it in reverse, when the jobs happen, cheques roll in based on income tax paid by Canadian residents. Unfortunately that won't happen as everyone knows the projections are...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Tractor trailer at OnRoute tonight. Driving the wrong direction and trying to go down a no-truck route. Didn't fit so backed up for more speed as that's the obvious solution. Smashed some stuff and got stuck. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17Rtiz6kA8/

Ticketmaster has probably had their hand so far up the butt of any politician with power for decades. There is tons of money to be made there. There have been years of complaints of concerts selling out in seconds and coincidentally, tens of thousands of resale tickets listed on tm controlled...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Then drop the charade. If you don't expect the sureties to enforce nor hold them to account if they don't, just put them back on the street with the personal conditions and tell the public their isn't enough space. Like many things in the justice system, the surety just sounds like a waste of...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

As a minimum, if the surety isn't doing the job they signed up for, they should lose the security. If the courts have no appetite to seize $50k, they should be setting bail at a level they are willing to seize. Seizing zero out of 50K is much less effective than seizing all of $500.

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

I see comments on arrests but no comments about eleventy million dollars of securities surrendered by sureties. I suspect in almost every case they are giving the sureties a slap at most. The system is a joke. It should be zero tolerance for sureties that don't uphold their promise. If they know...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

I really like a lot of these mobility solutions but sadly the politicians that lay out the laws are swayed by incompetence or industry lobbying. Reality and safety of the majority is barely a breath of wind in a hurricane. That leaves the streets littered with morons incapable of making smart...

    COVID and the housing market

You may be right about uninsured. Most of that was wrt to 20% down. As for the risk to the buyer, if the bank is approving the loan based on insane covid pricing and then only forcing you to have 20% down from that number, it is a defacto low-ratio mortgage as your 20% may be entirely wiped out...

    COVID and the housing market

Interesting article on the current shell game and regulators being wilfully blind to avoid upsetting the apple cart. It also makes the cmhc books look much less terrible when you reduce the liabilities they have on paper by at least 20%. If that bill came due, it would make the federal deficit...

I tried MLB.tv to watch one of the games. It had no jays games. The cheapest option ($18/mo) was a french language channel that didn't explicitly state coverage was in english so screw that. I bought a month of Sportsnet for $30 and immediately cancelled so it doesn't auto-renew. That gives me...

    Where to get a puppy?

Some rez dogs are not safe to be around. I don't know whether that is due to nature or nurture (eg town punching bag). I'm glad you found a few nice ones. A friend in med school was at conference where one of the papers being presented was about the risk to pedestrians of roving packs of wild...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

The ones I have seen were predominantly the DUI/trailer trash crowd. Pushing the youth/elderly off the sidewalk as they missile along. The same ebike stores telling their customers that the 1KW "ebike" can be used by anyone anywhere added these vehicles as they are a much higher price point and...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

Those are a grey area. By almost every definition you can find, they are Low Speed Vehicles which are technically part of a pilot project but almost no municipalities are participating in the project. The people using them are arguing they are enclosed mobility scooters and therefore a...

    TV shows currently watching

Not a TV show but today I will finally finish Runkle of the Bailey videos. Damn does that guy ever release a lot of hours of content. Almost 900 videos and the average length is likely over two hours. Thankfully, he is easy to have on in the background at 2-3x.

The honda would probably happily run on that. Long ago we fired up an abandoned CT70 with gas more than a decade old. After, we felt bad for it and dumped the gas out on the ground so we could put fresh in. With a torch, we couldn't get the old gas on the ground to burn. Is the CB-1 on the...

And then the surrounding neighbourhoods will be packed with traffic bypassing the collector road with an insanely low speed limit. Morons.

My bil lives in Woodbridge. The parents that are entitled aholes that believe the hta doesn't apply to them get bikes/scooters for their entitled ahole kids. One dad rides a Chinese gas pit bike with his small son on his lap along the sidewalk daily at 50+ km/h with no helmets. No brain to need...
