Forks of The Credit Speed Camera

Province forcing an end to the whole thing. Instead (?) they've made the junction between Forks of the Credit Road and Scott St (Top of the hill exiting town to the north) an all-way stop. I'm sure the tremendous amount of traffic in and out of (dead-end) Scott St totally justifies that.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Having just come back from Portugal, I saw a decent number of ID Buzzes (?) on the road there - roughly split between the passenger version and the cargo version that we don't get. Transporters still vastly outnumber them.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

So you block the surveillance camera's view first, then deal with the speed camera. Then they'll need a camera watching the camera that's watching the camera 🤣

Oct. 2 Wheeler's Pancake House Loop

Great destination. A bunch of us were there mid-week a couple weeks ago, and we were practically the only ones there. Limited choices for breakfast, but wow, those choices are good.

    Rear suspension service

Try Acme Motorsports a.k.a. Craig Atkinson. In Ancaster.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Status: "Coming soon" signs still there, no camera-box observed. Maybe it's in for repair. The enclosure for the Alton one has been hit, beaten up, painted over, scraped clean, and become rusty to the extent that it was an eyesore.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

I may scout it later today. IIRC the "coming soon" signs are supposed to be up for something like 60 or 90 days before the camera goes live, and that hasn't passed. Edit after doing some digging: supposed to be 90 days according to Peel Region's own website, and it's been just over 30 days. I...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Speed camera in Alton is gone, along with its warning signs. Probably means that's the camera they're planning to put in the Forks ... if douggie doesn't stop the whole thing first.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Likely true of the big EVs (the new Charger is enormous!) but to me, my Bolt doesn't feel like a barge. It's GTI size and not much more than GTI weight. Suspension is not the equal of a GTI (twist-beam rear with floppy underdamped rear shocks - which I've replaced with Bilsteins) and stock tires...

Not cancelled ... being sold alongside.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Porsche has an EV replacement for the Cayman in the works. As for the weight issue, that's going to take the next generation of batteries - probably solid-state, or lithium-sulfur, and they're in the works and have been demonstrated, but not in production yet. I saw something floating around in...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

It potentially breaks a bunch of expensive s**t ... and the same could be said of any other car. Many an oil pan has been taken out by a chunk of steel like that.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Hmm, <checks map> I know where those two streets are in Orangeville. At least they both have a school on them, which is probably where they'll put the camera. The main traffic using those streets, will be local residents going to and from home, and local residents driving their kids to and from...

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

There's an increasing number of drivers in Brampton who are dealing with this by driving 40 km/h everywhere on main roads and 30 km/h everywhere on residential streets. I know "frustration" never wins relative to "think of the children" but ... this is frustrating. And I'm the bad guy for...

Wow. My condolences. Thanks for sharing photos. I see several familiar faces there.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

I suspect that if municipalities used a small number of speed cameras in actual problem areas with lots of speed-related crashes and pedestrian hits, and set reasonable enforcement thresholds to only get blatant violators, we wouldn't be having this discussion. But, they got greedy, and here we are.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

They're pervasive. Politicians find the revenue generated by arbitrarily low speed limits combined with speed cameras to be irresistible, all justified by "think of the children". And people are all for having speed cameras on their own street while complaining about the ticket they got on...

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

Shhh, let them think they're doing something.

    Speed camera update (Sept.11)

I hope the local residents around Forks of the Credit enjoy their new 40 speed limit for the whole length of the "good" part, especially when that camera goes up.
