There's wireless gears now!
I've just about had it with presta valves since my stupid floor pump also manages to undo valve cores. I ordered these today Schwalbe Clik Valve - Bicycle Valve Attachment - SV-SCV Conversion Kit (Valves with Pump Head Adapter) : Amazon.ca: Sports & Outdoors
Very much enjoying High Arctic Haulers on Netflix. It's a documentary that kind of encapsulates what Canada really is to me. Battling the weather and the waves to get goods to remote arctic communities where there's no roads or even port infrastructure. It's fascinating and reminds me that...
Do they do it properly or just spray crap over it and “paint” it black”?
We had one done once and in the winter the surface was slick as anything and the wife slipped over. The proper guys will make sure it's done right. A decent crew told us they mixed some sand in to make sure there's grip.
Crossing fingers that when the ceiling comes down the only issues are minor. Last time this ceiling came down the wood was fine but there was a gigantic old bees nest in the ceiling cavity. Since the roof was way way worse with leaks last time I'm reasonably confident that this time should be...
Guy came round this morning to quote for a ceiling demo, 5” spray foam and drywall the ceiling back. Said the spray foam would isolate the roof and give a decent thermal break. Added bonus, cooler room in the summer, warmer in the winter and a small ice dam that sometimes shows up should also...
Agreed, a balanced approach would be good. We've definitely lurched a bit too far to one side recently but the reasons for that are complicated. If there was investment in higher education then colleges and universities might not need to bring in as many international students. The shady...
The polite term for this statement is “intellectually lazy”
Anti Israeli policy doesn't mean anti Jewish as I've already stated. My former Jewish girlfriend would be quite upset.

There's a few different ones there in multiple styles and sizes and a range...
There's some mips cycling helmets at Costco for $29. There's also some older version ones with a built in rear light for $25 if you can find them. Great value for a mips rated helmet, I got one last night. The brand is Freetown they are one size but with lots of adjustment. If they fit you...
There's an AC duct in the wall of this room too. It's got really good flow to it and I also suspect the ductwork isn't the best there. I'm wondering if there's cold air leakage from that all the way up the inside of the wall into the ceiling cavity that isn't helping. We have had an ice dam...
I was wondering about that. I went down a rabbit hole looking at different flat roof designs.
From what I remember the roof from the outside in is flame applied asphalt roll on very heavy tar paper on marine plywood, under that there's batts, then vapour barrier then the drywall ceiling...
Pennies are still legal tender in Canada. If you want to have some fun just call and say you don't have a bank and only have pennies as cash and where can you drop them off?
I think the reasoning is that the closed cell foam is more dense and doesn't hold water (open cell would hold water). It will insulate above the ceiling way better than the crappy batts that are up there now and stop the big temperature differential at that point.
It only has an external drain. To be honest, the entire thing has been a pain in the ass since we bought the house. The flat roof doesn't have a proper slope. After being replaced three times it's finally waterproof but there's this condensation issue now that only happens for about two weeks...
