    Boat Rentals

I was given some really good advice years ago regarding long term projects. Divide a piece of paper down the middle. On the left-hand side write down what you want to accomplish in life. Then on the right-hand side write down how old you, your wife and kids will be when you hit your goals...

    Boat Rentals

These were just plans. Build in fiberglass, ferrocement, wood epoxy, steel. FWIW, finishing a FG hull was four square feet per hour for a workboat or four hours per square foot for a yacht finish. Fitting out tips included a telephone pole for a mast, truck differential for steering gear. I...

    Boat Rentals

I used to hang around Port Credit Marina when the Bruce Roberts DIY was a bit of a craze. The number of boats that never got finished was substantial. The number of half finished boats that anyone wanted was dismal . When the promise was a big boat for $10,000 in six months became $50,000 in...

I made an earlier comment about the Isle of Man and foot in the boot. When you put your foot down while in motion the geometry wants to make your foot swivel 180 degrees. It doesn't usually work out well.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Yup. I was in a friend's Model S with FSD on and it was programmed to go to a particular restaurant. Traffic was heavy, there was construction and it elbowed its way in like a Beemer.

A game of what bike is it.

Didn't Deely have a fit when some of those and maybe Triumphs get sold off cheap? The bike from The Great Escape: Apparently, after filming, a farmer got hold of it and used it to herd his sheep. Now it’s valued at 1.5m and is in the Triumph Museum.

    COVID and the housing market

The ad says listed for seven months and there are or used to be agents that advertised they'd buy your house. That might be subject to you buying a new one through them. They are also going to pay well below market value and still take the commission.

A game of what bike is it.

If you want to make money restoring stuff, restore other people's barn finds and charge by the hour. There's a very short list of bikes worth restoring on speculation. Brough Superior, Vincent or something with provenance. If my uncle was alive and nearby I'd be interested as he worked on the...

    COVID and the housing market

I don't know how many of the old style rentals were between friends and money changed hands without the governments knowledge. Also without the insurer's knowledge. Suddenly it's a business.

    COVID and the housing market

The speculator didn't have the money to back up his bet. While that's unfortunate I shed no tears for him. An interesting part is that he borrowed part of the down payment from friends who I'm sure would like it back. What were the terms? Was the money from friends a loan or a shared...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I to would like to see government money minimized in speculative technologies. The island airport could have a vested interest in E-planes due to constant pressure from nearby residents to shut the place down over noise issues, the reason jets aren't allowed other than emergency flights. Nice...

Today's prices with the post-Covid / interest rate crash might not be reflected in a multi year study. Anyone have a crystal ball with compensators for interest rates, tariff effects and future surprises?

Sometimes I just want to try something different and I wasn't going to try an engine block. The bracket was the right size. 3D printing or CAD / CAM would mean buying equipment I don't know how to use. Another option would be casting the thing in resin. The high school I went to had a...
