People seem to be split between two groups as they approach retirement.
One group spent 105% of their income and are dependent on a lottery win to enable retirement as it is typically envisioned.
No forced retirement at 65 means no golden years. For their employers it means no fresh blood...
Stuff is a drug and you can get hooked on it. I spent the first seven or eight years of my life in my grandparent's rustic rural house in Manitoba. It didn't have running water or central heat. My grandmother cooked on a massive wood stove that also heated the house. Walking a mile wasn't an OMG...
We went through a few small towns over the weekend and they didn't seem as cozy as I thought they would be. Small towns are susceptible to the down and outers as well.
The thought of moving out of Toronto isn't necessarily a good one. Downtown London has deteriorated, not that it's small.
"I saw something on YouTube...."
A friend liked to chat with the trades as they worked. While engrossed with the conversation the guy installing the tub surround cut the holes in the wrong end and had to buy a new panel. STFU when I'm working.
Learning is fun, even if you suck at the results. If you have the right attitude, you don't usually suck. You've got to keep your head above water but if money is the goal instead the end result, you'll probably suck.
Residential work is as good as the client. I've met some really nice people, bringing me coffee on cold days and cold water on hot days. When you're on service calls all day access to a washroom is nice.
Conversely, I'm wearing safety boots not shoes. I'm not offended if you put down some old...
A client of mine was non-union and 80% of their work was condo service. He had about 12 guys, busy all the time. A couple of wanabees pushed for unionization and got it although it was nowhere near 51% due to some judgmental clause.
Condos don't pay union rates, so he lost 80% of his clients...
Who would suffer if they really clamped down on e-bikes and their kin?
How about Uber? They make money hand over fist on food and deliveries 📦 Any chance they are lobbying?
And the brain dead public does nothing because someone else will figure it out. The union and government executives continue to draw salaries while they, the someone elses, try to figure it out.
You don’t need any training, license or insurance to ride an e-bike or scooter.
The most responsible task given a person is raising a child. No qualifications needed there either.
I saw two kids under 14 YO riding two up on one, on a sidewalk, neither wearing a helmet. To the parents, why not just give your kid a grenade to play with.
Motor vehicles are not toys.
