    my 2nd ride

I *thought* that might be the Airport in the background, but wasn't sure :) Don't be embarrassed; there's lots of places in JA I've never seen (like Manchester), and probably will never see :( My Dad's family is from Clarendon. Ride safe!

Hell just froze. Heading to Harley-Davidson dealership tonight.

lolololol! Love your heading :) I find myself saying that would I "never get a HD". I think it's the loudness of some of them I don't like. But, never say never, right? I've seen some really nice-looking ones (couldn't tell you the names though). Actually, my first time on a HD was last...

Ever considered leaving riding all together?

daytona, first my condolences on the loss of your friend. In May, 2009, I got a call from a cousin in New York that one of our cousins had been killed while riding his motorcycle. An elderly lady (with a suspended/no license) made an improper right-turn going into her apartment parking lot...

    Things are getting soft

Literally just put one of those in the blue box! Better go get it. Thanks for the tip.

    Rolling back on hills

With all due respect, I'm not sure your first sentence is necessarily true. The technique that you prefer to use certainly does take practice (as with anything). I've tried it and right now, I find it much easier to use the rear brake. Again, to go back to the time I was stranded going up...

    my 2nd ride

Kim, where in JA was that picture taken? I've been on the roads in JA, in a car. Spent most of my time in Old Harbour Bay. Can't even begin to imagine riding a motorcycle on those roads :) Ride safe and walk good! ;)

    "smidsy"

TorontoBoy. Watched the video. Got the answer right. But, failed on the other. Won't give away the "other" in case others want to check it out too ;)

    "smidsy"

On reflection, I suppose it's not so silly if it helps me to stay alert as a rider. As for the "silly replies", given the mentality of some people on this forum, you can always expect those. It is what it is.

    New - From Hamilton

Welcome and congratulations on the bike! Good luck with the training. I'm also in Hamilton. Ride safe!

    "smidsy"

Given the number of "fallen riders", whether we refer to each other as "mate" doesn't seem to matter, imho. The "assumption" was based on some of the responses, not all :)

Awww! Finally. An intelligent response from someone who knows. Thank you! :)

    "smidsy"

Any of you responders even know what 'smidsy' is the acronym for? Didn't think so. No need to reply. The question is rhetorical :) Carry on.

    "smidsy"

This may seem silly, but lately when riding, I find myself repeating over and over (in my head) "smidsy". It's difficult to put into words. But, I find it helps me to focus on the traffic around me. Look ahead for potential danger, etc.

    Hamilton-Kenilworth access traffic circle

Whew! I rode in this area this morning, just after 9. Fortunately, I was in the right lane, heading east when I entered the circle. I didn't notice anything. Came back up that access around 10ish. Ride was ok. Thanks for the heads up anyway :)

    Rolling back on hills

I *almost* envy you riders who just jumped on a bike and away you went. Uphill, downhill, never stalling, etc. No problem for you people. Good for you. Personally, I have found holding the back brake works and that's what I practice. To each his/her own, I suppose...

    Rolling back on hills

Sure, it makes sense now. Perhaps riding isn't as instinctive to some as it is to others, like yourself. Quite frankly, I'm glad I got stranded going up a hill. Yes, it was frustrating and worrisome. I tried like heck to get my bike uphill. But, that experience gave me the opportunity to ask the...

    Rolling back on hills

Seriously? OP. I found myself stuck going up a hill once. I had to wait to be "rescued". When I shared the experience (on another forum), I was given the advice most reasonable people here are giving; use the back brake. And that is what I praticed. Unlike what 'rideit...' indicated, you...

New Female Rider Scarborough - Birchmount & Steeles area

Welcome, Chin.r I ride a CBR 125. It's a fine motorcycle. I'm quite happy with it. When all is said and done, whichever motorcycle you decide to purchase, will be your decision. I believe it will depend on what type of riding you want to do. And, what type of rider you want to be. Please, do...
