I feel, if the crime is violent or organized, it should be automatic adult charges, being dumb and stealing a car from a driveway to joyride is one thing, dragging someone out of their car at knifepoint or breaking into a house with a gun shows a trait that doesn't belong in a civilized society.

Personally I'd go upto 200k depending on the year and make. A 200k Chrysler is not the same as a 200k toyota for example. If you can get 100 to 150k out of a used vehicle I'd be happy.

Its a good initiative however the theif that stole a car that gets seized just gets another order for the same car. They just doubled the amount of thefts . Until they start locking people up nothing will get solved.

So how well will the automatic bollards work in canadian winters when it snows and the driveway freezes over etc. "Sorry boss, can't come into work, bollards won't move" isn't going to go down very well with employers. The only way to solve the issue is make it not worth the risk to the thieves...
