I would try the easiest fix first and assume it is the tire. See if they will replace the tire under warranty and go from there.

The 250R uses a cartidge filter not a spin on auto filter.

Canadian Tire has them in the motorcycle section. It is a Fram CH6012 filter just open the box and make sure it has the 2 o-rings in the box they come with them but best to make sure they are still in the box.
