9½ Reasons Motorcycle Shops Are Closing That Have Nothing To Do With Sales

In my case it has nothing to do with less disposable income, but the fact that I want the job done right the first time and since I have the skills, that is not an issue doing everything myself, be it vehicle maintenance and repair, construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, concrete...

    Insurance question - income replacement

Glad you brought that up and I'll be calling my insurance company. Same here, so why should I pay for coverage that I do not need or want.

    A petite rant

    Talk about kick-backs.

Lead acid vs AGM life expectancy

Since you brought up an RV, if you ever need a battery charger and these are meant for boats and RVs primarily, the Xantrex Truecharge 2 is the best by far that I tested. I tested all aspects of their 20A model about 15 years ago and they still make the same models of various amperages. All...

Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

For a guy that was born here, I do not miss the seasons and the pi$$-poor weather in Canada. The pathetic politics and high cost of living aka being taxed to death here does not help matters either. I could put up with the latter if at least the weather was great as it is on the Gold Coast.

Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

Look, can you stop stealing our warm weather. It is friggin freezing in Canada. :ROFLMAO: I'd gladly take that 39C back in January we had in Cairns.

Little did I know they was located there. As you already know, the 1000 Daytona and 1100 Sport of the early 90s are my picks. I would have liked to see the museum there. I was staying in the area, drove down over the Passo San Marco from Morbegno into Lecco and then up the eastern side of Lago...

I was told by my Aussie friends to apply to New Zealand and then you can automatically move to Australia. Moving to New Zealand has become very difficult now if you go to their government web site and enter the info to see if you qualify. If you are young and work in a position they are looking...

I just did and saw some "sunny icons"; what a concept! On another forum I am on there is a rider posting riding pics of Alberta, yup blue sky from horizon to horizon. That is true, a -30C and dry day is better than a -2 and cloudy and damp day, but at my point in life, I'd sooner see 28C half...

Nahhh, too bloody cold. But if I did stay in Canada, I would definitely move to Alberta if I had the energy to start all over again.

Welcome to Canada or at least Ontario! Now you know why I tried to get permanent residence in Oz where it is sunny (Oz is the skin cancer capital of the world) almost all the time. Unfortunately Australia runs a far better immigration system than Canada where we let everybody in. I also had to...

When your motorcycle becomes a "vehicle"

That they are. When I drove the Trans Labrador Highway with its 1100 kilometers of gravel, I left the BMW R1150 GS Adventure at home and took my Kawasaki KLR 650. Good thing too because where ever the grader went by to smooth out long sections of potholed gravel road, it was like riding on...

    Solo trip from Toronto

When I am on the road, I shower both in the morning and after the long ride before dinner. PUG, once again a Canadian company that is no longer, sort of like my soft Serratus backpack out of BC that I bought in the early 90s that I still use today. I used to go to the TO bike show every year...

    Solo trip from Toronto

We gotta talk. :ROFLMAO: Hell, when I did the Trans Labrador Highway, I even packed tire irons, spare tubes, a clutch and throttle cable and other emergency items in my cases, along with a mosquito net so that the critters don't haul me into the woods if I got a flat tire. You don't need a...

    Solo trip from Toronto

I keep an Excel spreadsheet on my travel expenses simply because on the forums I am on, riders want to know what everything costs. As for motels being cheaper in the US, they will likely be cheaper the further south you go just as it is for gas pricing. But when I looked at going through the...

    Solo trip from Toronto

Think about it, and not like someone that thinks they need the kitchen sink and generate a "check list" that after a trip or two can be modified as you go along and get experience. Besides, "check Lists" prevent you from reinventing the wheel every year as in "what did I bring last year?"...

    Solo trip from Toronto

Exactly. The issue is our worthless Canadian dollar thanks to the mismanagement of our government. I wanted to go through New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to NB and NS, but motels, (forget about grossly overpriced B&Bs) are a deal breaker.

When your motorcycle becomes a "vehicle"

Only when I am picking up stuff back in the days when I didn't have a car. Such as and all strapped down to the back seat of a Honda XL 100. A new 12 drawer tool chest I picked up at Canadian tire. 135 pounds. A 4 foot wide aquarium. A desk with drawers running down each side. Had to take...

Do you do a pre-flight check before every ride?

I wonder how much of a pressure change it would take to go from green to red and would it be gradual or quick. And should they fail and lose air, I would think it would be a slow leak as all you need is a pin hole, it being static and not dynamic.
