    Anyone here a cyclist?

I've never looked at derailleurs closely but today, noticed a cam on the sides of the cassette gears that must push the chain up onto the desired sprocket. It's only logical that if the cams wear, they don't shift the chain. My next project is a repair / cleaning station for the bike.

    Anyone here a cyclist?

Nailed it. The barrel adjuster on mine is at the derailleur and a turn out solved 95% of the problem. With that encouragement I went for a really enjoyable ride. Thank you and the others for their suggestions.

    Did you exercise today?

I'm just starting to explore the area. My starter loop covers Bloordale Park to Centennial and across into Mississauga. Very little road, mostly bikers, hikers and dog walkers. And for a treat today, a parrot walker. After years of neglect, I'm trying to get my "C" legs back so interested.

    COVID and the housing market

1000 divided by 14 =71 Square feet per person, six feet by 12 feet not allowing for hallways, closets, kitchen counters, bathroom. I assume half will be in the basement. Have they checked for radon?

    Cycle Mafia scores a win!

The whole mess distracts from the pathetic standards of driver training and testing, a provincial mandate.

Couldn't get a boost to save my life

Take a look at the gears if possible. Cheap nylon castings can shrink and pull themselves apart over the years. Even some plastics need annealing. This crack kept the little gear from turning the big one

    174 PSI pressure washer

The 2000 PSI is at the nozzle. Ten feet away it's rain and twenty just drizzle. For giggles I've cut meat at an inch. The Costco one is a niche market and I came to the conclusion that if it was powerful enough to blast grime out of tight corners it was powerful enough to blast grime into a...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Around here a lot of contractors won't look at a job for under $10K. They consider it a service call. You get a broad estimate over the phone and if you want, a crew shows up to do the job T&M

    174 PSI pressure washer

There are a few around at $200+ which automatically negates the deal for me. The Costco one was ~$60 and could be a possibility for someone who plays in the mud occasionally, clean the windscreen, license plate and knock off some of the mud. Just carry a jug of water. To get one just for the...

Couldn't get a boost to save my life

I carry a heavy duty air compressor that's several times as fast as the $9.99 ones but I'm thinking of the power pack as well. Two reasons, I might need it or not looking callous if someone else needs a boost. How often does it have to be topped up if not used? Can we dispense with the lithium...

    Help catch a theif

Be careful of getting into a street fight with a street fighter unless you have serious backup. Identifying the perp: Have you asked the police if you can go through mug shots of anyone released on remand in the last couple of days. Sarcasm

    174 PSI pressure washer

This is less than a quarter the price but my wife asked what I would use it for and it came down to the bird bath and the bicycle. She does the bird bath with a brush and the bike can be done with a carwash mitt. Deep thought saves money.

    Boat Rentals

I wouldn't trust them in sand. OK for something on shore with more holding power and you'd need two to keep the boat from swinging I have some similar things in mild steel kicking around. You're welcome to them if you want to try but they were meant for pets.

    174 PSI pressure washer

City tap pressure is 40 to 80 PSI and this is 2 to 4 times. I was thinking about bike seals and bearings when doing a light cleanup. The 1500 to 2000 PSI isn't recommended. My 120 volt one has about 150 feet of combined supply and delivery hose and power cord. It's a pain to pull out to clean...

Couldn't get a boost to save my life

I've heard the system excuse and don't know enough to say one way or another. Some say a failure is an accumulation of events. At the price of modules, I don't want to do the research. If I had to, I would disconnect one battery terminal as that should isolate my car and its modules. Nasty...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

There's a good YouTube video that starts with the bracket and runs through the multiple steps. It's tedious but makes sense. There's a pleasant comfortable sound to a well-adjusted derailleur.

    Did you exercise today?

That's a really nice pace. Crash diets are disasters in the long term. I know a couple of people that did diets with injections and they had problems. Lose weight too fast and your body goes into survival mode, learning how to live on incredibly low calorie counts and it never resets. Consider...

    Anyone here a cyclist?

It worked reasonably well until the cycle shop "Fixed" it. It's the lowest gear, the one you need most when going uphill and dodging a rock while trying to keep up momentum.

    COVID and the housing market

I saw a condo complex turn into a vertical slum when the government started paying the rent for people used to lower standards. That caused more original owners to move and investors took over the building. It was a gold mine for the investors. Guaranteed income and lowering maintenance costs...
