The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I misread the FB post. When I saw all the under 16 charges I assumed the driver was 16. It was the passengers the driver had to take responsibility for that racked up points.

    Darksiders beware...

Or you misjudge a curve and all you needed was one more inch of asphalt to keep you from hitting the gravel shoulder in front of the guard rail.

Some can fit run flat tires and theoretically be safer in the event of tire failure.

West Toronto means pure North or pure West. East takes you across the city, south into the lake and North West goes through Brampton

    COVID and the housing market

Our problem was in the city. When the kids got old enough to not go to the cottage the parents went to enjoy the cottage peace and quiet while the kids had all night parties keeping the whole neighbourhood awake.

G-1 and M-1 are written tests only. No actual driving skill has to be demonstrated. In Ontario, a G1 license is the first level of the graduated licensing system for drivers. It's essentially a learner's permit, allowing new drivers to practice driving under certain restrictions. To obtain a...

    Darksiders beware...

    1) Officials of large organizations don't get bonuses for taking risks to satisfy minorities. Motorcyclists are minorities. Darksiders are minorities in a minority group. 2) Give someone an inch and they'll take a mile. 3) For the mechanic doing a safety: a) Is it lily white? Mostly a black...

    COVID and the housing market

According to the above, cottages aren't out of the woods either. Fudging the finances with BnBs isn't going well in some areas due to bylaw changes. There's a bit of a contradiction in that she starts out saying 57% of the cottage owners can't afford them. If that's true, who's pushing the...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I've finished sanding my side of the cedar fence and it's been about a day's work to do the 50 SF on my side. While looking at finishes at HD I priced cedar and figure it would have cost about $300 to buy new wood, skipping the sanding labour. Was it worth it? Keep in mind I've only done one...

    Covid Vacs

A lot of seniors died because of Covid. They died of malnutrition because staff situations didn't allow for feeding times. Were those Covid deaths? Did Gene Hackman die of dementia or because of it? Too many if's in the discussion.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

I have an interest in the concept as I once came too close to being involved. I loaned my M/C to my brother (Permission given) but unknown to me he let an unlicensed, untrained person (Permission not given) take it for a spin...into the back of a car. No damage to the car in the days of massive...

Where was this? Is the GTA the bottom of the barrel for deadbeats? It sounds like she isn't a pro deadbeat.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

That would probably include fossil fuel subsidies for natural gas going to NG generating stations to eventually charge EV's The tax system is a form of a subsidy and I don't know of much that doesn't, directly or not, benefit from an injection of government (Taxpayer) money. User pay for...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

The problem is the simplification of the issues and assumption that solutions can be imported from places with different cultures histories and infrastructures. A point, his bike didn't get charged for free. The place where he was staying picked up the roughly $2.25 cost of electricity. A dozen...

    COVID and the housing market

BandB's and boarding houses come under different rules. A friend rents out rooms and it's a lot easier to get rid of someone. He was however worried about getting rid of one boarder that also had a disability. He was breaking the no smoking rule. Fortunately the guy didn't fight the boot out...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

If you're going to carry extra batteries why not put them in the same case and call it a big battery. If batteries were all standard an exchange program would eliminate charge time. It doesn't work well for 1000 pound batteries.

    Anyone into gardening here?

Hedge issues: We have a great eight-foot-high hedge across the back of the yard. The trouble is that it is also about ten feet thick. I'm trying to clip it back three feet to free up more yard. If it works it will take years as I'm grafting shoots into the main trunks as an experiment. I've...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Fixing up the yard. A shared cedar board fence looked good when the neighbour put it up, Cetol finish. I'm sanding my side and it's going well, using a controlled speed disk sander. Sanding should take a couple of hours on my side. The neighbour's BIL, a landscaper, built the fence and he put...
